Candid TV Suspension 75ml is an antifungal medication used to treat yeast infections of skin commonly used to treat jock itch, ringworm, athletes foot and also relieves from scalp infection such as seborrheic dermatitis, itching, flaking, irritation, and redness of the scalp. However, the uses mentioned here are not exhaustive. There may be other conditions for which this medication may be used upon a doctor’s discretion.

The active ingredients of Candid TV Suspension is Clotrimazole 1% and Selenium sulfide 2.5%.

Ergosterol is an essential provitamin that fungi and protozoa cannot survive without. Clotrimazole targets the ergosterol present in the cell membrane of many fungi and protozoa.

Selenium sulfide may act by an antimitotic action, resulting in a reduction in the turnover of epidermal cells. It also has local irritant, antibacterial, and mild antifungal activity, which may contribute to its effectiveness.

Patients with the following conditions are suggested to seek advice from their health care professional before using this Candid TV Suspension 75ml:

  • Hypersensitivity to any of the drugs used in the suspension such as Clotrimazole and selenium sulfide

Side Effects

Side and Adverse Effects

The following side effects may or may not occur during the usage of this Candid TV Suspension 75ml. It is generally well tolerated when used in the prescribed dosage guidelines. More common ones are generally mild and may include:

  • Erythema
  • Stinging
  • Irritation
  • Oily scalp
  • Hair discoloration
  • Hair loss

Rare but more serious adverse effects may include:

  • Contact dermatitis
How to Use

How to Use

Do not exceed the dose prescribed by your doctor.
For Dandruff: Remove hairgrips, rings, and jewelry, now wash your hair and clean it properly before the application. Use a sufficient quantity of the suspension and massage it to produce lather. Allow it to stay for 5 minutes and rinse thoroughly. Initially use twice weekly or as directed by your physician.
Tinea versicolor: Apply Candid TV Suspension 75ml to an affected area. Allow remaining as per instructions of the physician.
Try not to skip the dose. If you do, use it as soon as you remember; but if it is time for your next dose, skip it and use it according to your normal schedule. Don’t use two doses at the same time which is dangerous to your scalp and skin and may lead to severe adverse effects.

Overdosage

Avoid using more than the prescribed dosage. In case of an accidental overdose, promptly seek medical advice. Depending on the dosage, symptoms may vary but you may experience one or more of the following signs or symptoms:

  • Contact dermatitis
  • Irritation

Use Candid TV Suspension 75ml only on the advice of a medical practitioner. Dosage adjustment or complete avoidance of the medication may be required in the following conditions:

Pregnancy:

Do not use this medicine without consulting your doctor when you are pregnant or planning to become pregnant, because it is not known whether this medicine may harm an unborn or not.

Lactation:

Do not use this medicine without first talking to your doctor, because it is not known whether this drug may harm a breastfeeding infant or not.

Drug Interactions:

Caution always advised with other suspensions and shampoos when used together.

Precautions
  • Keep Candid TV Suspension out of sight and reach of children.
  • Store in a dry ventilated place at a temperature not exceeding 30-degree centigrade
  • Do not use immediately after bleaching, tinting or permanent waving of hair or on inflamed skin
  • Do not use this medicine beyond its expiry date.

What is Clotrimazole for:

This medication is an antifungal, prescribed for local fungal infections. This medication prevents fungal growth on the skin.

How does Clotrimazole work:

Clotrimazole works to harm the yeast and fight the infection.

How should Clotrimazole be used:

Tab- Adult: PO- The recommended dose is 10 mgday for 7 days. Suppository- 100 mgday for 6 days. Solution- Instill 1% solution as directed by your physician. Lotioncreamsolution- Apply 2-3 timesday for 2-4 weeks. It comes as a tablet to take by mouth. It also comes as a cream, lotion, powder and solution to apply over the skin.

Common side effects of Clotrimazole :

Belly pain. - Upset stomach or throwing up. Many small meals, good mouth care, sucking hard, sugar-free candy, or chewing sugar-free gum may help.

What do I do if I miss a dose

Take a missed dose as soon as you think about it. If it is close to the time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and go back to your normal time. Do not take 2 doses at the same time or extra doses.

What precautions should I take when taking Clotrimazole :

If you have an allergy to clotrimazole or any other part of this drug. Tell your doctor if you are allergic to any drugs. Make sure to tell about the allergy and what signs you had. This includes telling about rash; hives; itching; shortness of breath; wheezing; cough; swelling of face, lips, tongue, or throat; or any other signs.

When do I need to seek medical help

If you think there was an overdose, call your local poison control center or ER right away. Signs of a very bad reaction to the drug. These include wheezing; chest tightness; fever; itching; bad cough; blue or gray skin color; seizures; or swelling of face, lips, tongue, or throat. If the yeast infection keeps coming back. Very bad belly pain. Very upset stomach or throwing up. Not able to eat. Dark urine or yellow skin or eyes. Feeling very tired or weak. Any rash. Side effect or health problem is not better or you are feeling worse.

Can I take Clotrimazole with other medicines:

Sometimes drugs are not safe when you take them with certain other drugs and food. - Taking them together can cause bad side effects. - Be sure to talk to your doctor about all the drugs you take.
