Candid V Vaginal Gel is a broad spectrum fungicide used in the treatment of local fungal infections such as vaginal yeast infections, vaginal burning, itching, fungal infections of the dermal, tinea pedis. However, the uses mentioned here are not exhaustive. There may be other conditions for which this medication may be used upon a doctor’s discretion.



The active ingredient of Candid V Vaginal gel is Clotrimazole 2% w/w.

Ergosterol is an essential provitamin that fungi and protozoa cannot survive without. Clotrimazole targets the ergosterol present in the cell membrane of many fungi and protozoa.

Patients with the following conditions are suggested to seek advice from their health care professional before using this Candid V Vaginal Gel:

  • Hypersensitivity to any of the drug used in the Candid V Vaginal gel such as Clotrimazole

Side Effects

Side and Adverse Effects

The following side effects may or may not occur during the usage of this Candid V Vagi. It is generally well tolerated when used in the prescribed dosage guidelines. More common ones are generally mild and may include:

  • Irritation
  • Contact dermatitis

Rare but more serious adverse effects may include:

  • Stinging
  • Erythema
How to Use

How to Use

Remove the cap from the Candid V Vaginal Gel and attach the applicator to the open end of the Candid V Vaginal Gel.
Squeeze the gel from the bottom and fill the cylinder and push out the plunger as far out until the cylinder is filled.
Always allow the tube from the bottom to allow easy filling of the applicator and complete utilization of the contents.

Remove the filled applicator from the tube and recap the tube tightly.
Now lie down on your back by folding the legs back. Hold the applicator which is filled with the gel and gently insert the applicator into the vagina as deep as possible.
Press the plunger completely to eliminate the gel from the applicator into the vagina.
Remove the applicator from the vagina, and now disassemble the applicator and plunger then wash it with warm and soapy water; let dry completely.

The usual dosage for candid V gel is about 5gm which should be inserted deeply into the vagina daily for 6 consecutive days at nights.
Try not to skip the dose, if you do, use it as soon as you remember; but if it is time for your next dose, skip it and use it according to your normal schedule. Don’t apply two doses at the same time which is dangerous to your health and may lead to severe adverse effects.


Avoid using more than the prescribed dosage. In case of an accidental overdose, promptly seek medical advice. Depending on the dosage, symptoms may vary but you may experience one or more of the following signs or symptoms:

  • Irritation
  • Contact dermatitis

Use Candid V Vaginal Gel 30gm only on the advice of a medical practitioner. Dosage adjustment or complete avoidance of the medication may be required in the following conditions:


There is no harm until the 1st trimester of pregnancy through topical application, but it should be used only under the prescription of a physician.


Consult your doctor if you are a nursing mother because a very small amount of this drug will pass into the mothers’ milk. It is not known for sure whether this drug can harm a breastfeeding infant or not.

  • Strictly for vaginal use, do not consume orally.
  • Keep the Candid V Vaginal Gel away from sight and reach of children.
  • Store at temperature below 25-degree centigrade, do not freeze.
  • Do not use during menstruation.
  • Do not use Candid V Vaginal Gel beyond its expiry.

Category B: Animal reproduction studies have failed to demonstrate a risk to the fetus and there are no adequate and well-controlled studies in pregnant women.

What is Clotrimazole for:

This medication is an antifungal, prescribed for local fungal infections. This medication prevents fungal growth on the skin.

How does Clotrimazole work:

Clotrimazole works to harm the yeast and fight the infection.

How should Clotrimazole be used:

Tab- Adult: PO- The recommended dose is 10 mgday for 7 days. Suppository- 100 mgday for 6 days. Solution- Instill 1% solution as directed by your physician. Lotioncreamsolution- Apply 2-3 timesday for 2-4 weeks. It comes as a tablet to take by mouth. It also comes as a cream, lotion, powder and solution to apply over the skin.

Common side effects of Clotrimazole :

Belly pain. - Upset stomach or throwing up. Many small meals, good mouth care, sucking hard, sugar-free candy, or chewing sugar-free gum may help.

What do I do if I miss a dose

Take a missed dose as soon as you think about it. If it is close to the time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and go back to your normal time. Do not take 2 doses at the same time or extra doses.

What precautions should I take when taking Clotrimazole :

If you have an allergy to clotrimazole or any other part of this drug. Tell your doctor if you are allergic to any drugs. Make sure to tell about the allergy and what signs you had. This includes telling about rash; hives; itching; shortness of breath; wheezing; cough; swelling of face, lips, tongue, or throat; or any other signs.

When do I need to seek medical help

If you think there was an overdose, call your local poison control center or ER right away. Signs of a very bad reaction to the drug. These include wheezing; chest tightness; fever; itching; bad cough; blue or gray skin color; seizures; or swelling of face, lips, tongue, or throat. If the yeast infection keeps coming back. Very bad belly pain. Very upset stomach or throwing up. Not able to eat. Dark urine or yellow skin or eyes. Feeling very tired or weak. Any rash. Side effect or health problem is not better or you are feeling worse.

Can I take Clotrimazole with other medicines:

Sometimes drugs are not safe when you take them with certain other drugs and food. - Taking them together can cause bad side effects. - Be sure to talk to your doctor about all the drugs you take.

Store it at room temperature and keep away from children.
