Cyclopam Injection 2ml is used as an antispasmodic medicine to relieve severe colicky conditions such as menstrual bleeding, intestinal, renal, or biliary colic associated with vomiting and also relieves from menstrual pain, pain in the stomach, abdomen pain. The uses mentioned here are not exhaustive. There may be other conditions for which this medication is used upon a doctor’s discretion.
The active ingredients of Cyclopam Injection is Dicyclomine 10mg/ml.
Dicyclomine (or Dicycloverine) is an anticholinergic drug that reduces muscle spasms in the gastrointestinal tract through a process of nonselective smooth muscle relaxation. An anticholinergic agent is basically a substance which blocks the neurotransmitter acetylcholine in both central and peripheral nervous systems. It inhibits the parasympathetic nerve impulses by selectively blocking the binding of the neurotransmitter acetylcholine to its receptor in nerve cells.

This medication is usually administered through parenteral route in a clinic or a hospital setting under the supervision of a nurse or a physician.
If self-administered, take the injection at prescribed dose and time.
Sterilize the area before taking the shot with an antiseptic swab. Pull the need to cap out and take the liquid from the vial/ampoule through the syringe.
Spread the skin at the site of injection using your hand. Slowly dart the needle into the site where the shot needs to be given at a 30-degree angle.
Ensure the needle is appropriately placed in the blood vessel and slowly pull back the plunger. Now, inject the solution slowly into the spot and once done, quickly remove the needle. To finish, press gently at the site with an alcohol swab.
Avoid taking more than the prescribed dosage. In case of an accidental overdose, promptly seek medical advice. Depending on the dosage, symptoms may vary but you may experience one or more of the following signs or symptoms:

May be used during pregnancy – no known risk of fetal harm. However, inform your doctor if you are pregnant or planning to get pregnant before the consumption of this medicine.
This drug may pass through breastmilk and may cause breathing problems in breastfed infants younger than 6months. Therefore, inform your doctor if you are breastfeeding an infant during the treatment.
Consumption of alcohol may increase your risk of certain side effects.
Since consuming this medicine would induce sleep/cause dizziness. Do not drive, operate heavy machinery or involve in any works which may demand your attention/physical strength.
Category B: Animal reproduction studies have failed to demonstrate a risk to the fetus and there are no adequate and well-controlled studies in pregnant women.
This medication is an anticholinergic, prescribed for irritable bowel syndrome. It blocks a chemical in the smooth muscle of the stomach and intestines.
Dicyclomine slows movement in the GI (gastrointestinal) tract, lowering the number of spasms.
Adult: PO- 10-20 mg 3 timesday. IM- 20 mg 4 timesday for 1-2 days. Replace with oral therapy as soon as possible. It comes as a tablet to take by mouth with or without food.
Hard stools (constipation). Drinking more liquids, working out, or adding fiber to your diet may help. Talk with your doctor about a stool softener or laxative. - Dry mouth. Good mouth care, sucking hard, sugar-free candy, or chewing sugar-free gum may help. See a dentist often.
Take a missed dose as soon as you think about it. If it is close to the time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and go back to your normal time. Do not take 2 doses at the same time or extra doses.
Do not give this drug to an infant younger than 6 months of age. If you have an allergy to dicyclomine or any other part of this drug. Tell your doctor if you are allergic to any drugs. Make sure to tell about the allergy and what signs you had. This includes telling about rash; hives; itching; shortness of breath; wheezing; cough; swelling of face, lips, tongue, or throat; or any other signs. If you have any of these health problems: Enlarged prostate, glaucoma, bowel block, myasthenia gravis, or trouble passing urine. If you are breast-feeding.
If you think there was an overdose, call your local poison control center or ER right away. Signs of a very bad reaction to the drug. These include wheezing; chest tightness; fever; itching; bad cough; blue or gray skin color; seizures; or swelling of face, lips, tongue, or throat. Very bad dizziness or passing out. Change in thinking clearly and with logic. Not able to pass urine. Any rash. Side effect or health problem is not better or you are feeling worse.
Sometimes drugs are not safe when you take them with certain other drugs and food. - Taking them together can cause bad side effects. - Be sure to talk to your doctor about all the drugs you take.
Avoid Alcohol
Store it at room temperature. Keep this medication in the container it came in and out of the reach of children. Protect it from light and heat.
