This medication is an adrenergic and dopaminergic cardiac stimulant, prescribed for heart failure.
It increases the pumping strength of the heart.
It is given as a shot into a vein over a period of time.
Upset stomach or throwing up. Many small meals, good mouth care, sucking hard, sugar-free candy, or chewing sugar-free gum may help. Headache. Nervous and excitable. Irritation where the shot is given.
Many times this drug is taken on an as needed basis
If you have an allergy to dopamine or any other part of this drug. Tell your doctor if you are allergic to any drugs. Make sure to tell about the allergy and what signs you had. This includes telling about rash; hives; itching; shortness of breath; wheezing; cough; swelling of face, lips, tongue, or throat; or any other signs.
Signs of a very bad reaction to the drug. These include wheezing; chest tightness; fever; itching; bad cough; blue or gray skin color; seizures; or swelling of face, lips, tongue, or throat. Trouble breathing. Chest pain or pressure or a fast heartbeat. Very bad dizziness or passing out. Very bad headache. Very upset stomach or throwing up. Feeling very tired or weak. Very bad skin irritation. Any rash. Side effect or health problem is not better or you are feeling worse.
Inform your doctor if you are taking any other medicines, especially those listed here: - painkillers such as aspirin or ibuprofen. - antifungal medicines such as ketoconazole. - quinidine (a heart medicine). - mood medicines such as fluoxetine. - TB medicine such as rifampicin. - epilepsy medicines such as phenytoin or carbamazepine. - other medicines for treatment of dementia. - herbs such as St. Johns wort and ginkgo biloba. - Always inform your doctor and pharmacist if you are taking any other medicines, including herbal tonics, supplements and medicines that you buy without a prescription.
Avoid Alcohol
Store in a cool, dry place away from the reach of children. - Medicines must not be used past the expiry date.
Category C : Animal reproduction studies have shown an adverse effect on the fetus and there are no adequate and well-controlled studies in humans, but potential benefits may warrant use of the drug in pregnant women despite potential risks.
