Febrex Plus syrup 100ml is most commonly used in the treatment of common cold and fever. This medicine also relieves minor to moderate pains such as toothache, headache, backache. This medicine is further used to ease the signs of allergy. However, the uses mentioned here are not exhaustive. There may be other conditions for which this medication could be used upon a doctor’s discretion.
The active ingredients of Febrex Plus syrup 100ml are Chlorpheniramine Maleate 5mg, Paracetamol 125mg, and Phenylephrine 1mg.
Chlorpheniramine Maleate basically tames allergy symptoms by attaching to histamine receptors. Histamines are responsible for allergic and inflammatory reactions. Chlorpheniramine Maleate blocks the action of the endogenous histamine, by reducing the negative symptoms brought on by histamine.
Paracetamol (or Acetaminophen) primarily acts as an analgesic and an antipyretic agent. It also possesses anti-inflammatory properties. It produces its analgesic effects by increasing the pain threshold and antipyresis by acting on the hypothalamic heat-regulating center.
Phenylephrine acts on alpha-adrenergic receptors, thus helps to reduce nasal congestion, allergies, fever and reduces swollen blood vessels in the nasal passage, if any.

Febrex Plus syrup 100ml is meant for oral administration. Shake the bottle well before consuming. Dosage can be administered with the cap that comes along with the syrup container.
Avoid missing a dose. In case you do, take it as soon as you remember; but if it is time for your next dose, skip it and take it according to your normal schedule. Don’t consume two doses at the same time which is dangerous to your health.
Febrex Plus syrup 100ml may be taken with or without food.
For children: Do not exceed more than 4 doses in a day or as directed by your physician or perceive the instructions written on the prescription.
Avoid taking more than the prescribed dosage. In case of an accidental overdose, seek prompt medical advice. Depending on the dosage, symptoms may vary but you may experience one or any of the following signs or symptoms:
Take Febrex Plus syrup 100ml only on the advice of a medical practitioner. Dosage adjustment or complete avoidance of the medication may be required in the following conditions:
Pregnancy: Paracetamol or Acetaminophen: Can be used during pregnancy, no known risk of fetal harm.
Chlorpheniramine: May be used during pregnancy, risk of fetal harm is low based on human data.
Phenylephrine: Avoid use in the trimester, caution advised in 2nd and 3rd trimesters.
Lactation: There were no noted studies stating that this medicine is dangerous for nursing mothers but it is better to take the suggestion of a doctor before taking the syrup.
Driving: Taking Febrex Plus syrup 100ml may induce sleep, do not drive or operate any machinery or other works which need your attention/physical strength.
Food: Affected by delayed gastric emptying.
Category C: Animal reproduction studies have shown an adverse effect on the fetus and there are no adequate and well-controlled studies in humans, but potential benefits may warrant the of the drug in pregnant women despite potential risks.
It is used to ease allergy signs.
Chlorpheniramine lowers or stops the bodys reaction to the allergen.
Adult: PO- Allergic conditions- 4 mg 4-6 hourly. Max: 24 mgday. IVIMSC- Adjunct in anaphylactic shock- 10-20 mg. Total max: 40 mgday. It comes as a tablet and syrup to take by mouth, with or without food. It also comes as a solution for injection to be administered by a healthcare provider into the vein, muscle, or under the skin.
Feeling lightheaded, sleepy, having blurred eyesight, or a change in thinking clearly. Avoid driving and doing other tasks or actions that call for you to be alert or have clear eyesight until you see how this drug affects you. Headache. Dry mouth. Good mouth care, sucking hard, sugar-free candy, or chewing sugar-free gum may help. See a dentist often.
Take a missed dose as soon as you think about it. - If it is close to the time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and go back to your normal time. Do not take 2 doses at the same time or extra doses. - Many times this drug is taken on an as needed basis.
If you have an allergy to chlorpheniramine or any other part of this drug. Tell your doctor if you are allergic to any drugs. Make sure to tell about the allergy and what signs you had. This includes telling about rash; hives; itching; shortness of breath; wheezing; cough; swelling of face, lips, tongue, or throat; or any other signs. If you have any of these health problems: Asthma, enlarged prostate gland, glaucoma, bowel block, ulcer disease, or trouble passing urine. If you are breast-feeding.
If you think there was an overdose, call your local poison control center or ER right away. Signs of a very bad reaction to the drug. These include wheezing; chest tightness; fever; itching; bad cough; blue or gray skin color; seizures; or swelling of face, lips, tongue, or throat. Very bad dizziness or passing out. Feeling very tired or weak. Any rash. Side effect or health problem is not better or you are feeling worse.
Sometimes drugs are not safe when you take them with certain other drugs and food. - Taking them together can cause bad side effects. - Be sure to talk to your doctor about all the drugs you take.
Avoid Alcohol
Store it at controlled room temperature (15° to 30° C), and in an airtight container. Keep away from children.
