Hifenac Spas Tablet is a non-steroidal anti-inflammatory medicine (NSAID), an analgesic and also an anti-spasmodic agent generally prescribed for the treatment of bowel disorders and to relieve one from pain in renal colic. This medicine may also relieve one from inflammation and pain. However, the uses mentioned here are not exhaustive. There may be other conditions for which this medication may be used upon a doctor’s discretion.
The active ingredients of Hifenac Spas Tablet are Aceclofenac 100mg and Drotaverine 80mg.
Aceclofenac is a derivative of phenylacetic acid that withholds the participation of Cyclooxygenase compound. Cyclooxygenase is an enzyme that is responsible for the formation of prostanoids including thromboxane and prostaglandins. Prostaglandins are compounds responsible for causing the pain, fever, swelling, and redness. Thus with this mechanism, pain causing factors are eliminated.
Drotaverine is a spasmolytic agent which helps in smooth muscle relaxation.

Do not exceed the dose prescribed by your doctor. Swallow the tablet immediately after opening it from the strip. Do not break/chew/crush the tablet.
Avoid missing or forgetting a dose. If you do, take it as soon as you remember; but if it is almost time for your next dose, skip it and take it according to your normal schedule. Don’t swallow two doses at the same time which may be dangerous to your health.
You can take the Hifenac Spas Tablet either with or without food; take it preferably after food to avoid GI discomfort.
For adults; May be taken twice in a day or take it as suggested by your doctor.
Avoid taking more than the prescribed dosage. In case of an accidental overdose, promptly seek medical advice. Depending on the dosage, symptoms may vary but you may experience one or more of the following signs or symptoms:

Do not take this medicine if you are pregnant or planning to get pregnant because it is not known whether this medicine may harm an unborn or not.

Do not take Hifenac Spas Tablet along with alcoholic beverages as this may increase your severe hepatic problems.
Aceclofenac: Increased nephrotoxicity with diuretics.
May enhance the activity of anticoagulants.
May increase plasma methotrexate levels leading to toxicity if administered within 2-4 hr of methotrexate administration.
Drotaverine: May reduce the action of levodopa.
Consequences with concurrent use of analgesics, antimuscarinics, or benzodiazepines.

To gain the most benefit, take the medicine daily or as prescribed by your doctor. It is usually taken twice a day. Take it with food.
Indigestion, heartburn, dyspepsia, diarrhoea, nausea, abdominal pain and flatulence.
Take a missed dose as soon as you think about it. If it is close to the time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and go back to your normal time. Many times this drug is taken on an as needed basis.
Inform your doctor is you suffer from history of peptic ulceration, cerebrovascular bleeding, ulcerative colitis, crohns disease, systemic lupus erythmatosus, porphyria, haematopoietic or coagulation disorders. The dose will be adjusted in people with hepatic, renal or cardiac function impairment.
Do not take the drug if you had an allergic reaction to the medication in the past. Stop taking this drug and seek emergency medical attention if you experience an allergic reaction (difficulty breathing; rash; wheezing; itching; closing of your throat; swelling of your lips, tongue, or face; or hives).
Inform you doctor is you are taking lithium, digoxin, diuretics or ACE inhibitors. Be sure to talk to your doctor about all the drugs you take.
Store in a cool, dry place away from the reach of children. - Medicines must not be used past the expiry date.
