Manforce Gel Stay Long Gel 8gm is a combination of two drugs used as a local anesthetic which is used to numb the surface of penis or vagina. This gel is used in piles, pain, and inflammation. However, the uses mentioned here are not exhaustive. There may be other conditions for which this medication may be used upon doctor’s discretion.
Composition
The active ingredients of Manforce Gel Stay Long Gel 8gm are Lidocaine (Also known as Lignocaine or Xylocaine) 2.5% w/w and Prilocaine 2.5% w/w.
Mechanism of Action of Drugs
Lidocaine (Lignocaine or Xylocaine) a local anesthetic works by blocking the pathway of pain signals by withholding the Na movement entering the nerve ending at the site of pain.
Prilocaine is an amide-type local anesthetic works by preventing depolarization and conduction of nerve impulses. Therefore, reduces the perception of pain, cold, heat, pressure and touch.
Contraindications and Caution
Patients with the following conditions are suggested to seek advice from their health care professionals before applying the Manforce Gel Stay Long Gel 8gm:
- Hypersensitivity to any of the ingredients used in the Manforce Gel Stay Long Gel 8gm such as Prilocaine and Lidocaine (Lignocaine or Xylocaine)
- Hypersensitivity amide anesthetics
- Concurrent methemoglobinemia-inducing drugs (Neonates and Infants)
- Caution:
- Hepatic impairment
- Pulmonary impairment
- Impaired cardiac function
- Heart block
- Sepsis
- Shock, severe
- Methemoglobinemia
- G6PD deficiency
- Rash
- Increased skin temperature
Side and Adverse Effects
The following side effects may or may not occur during the usage of the Manforce Gel Stay Long Gel 8gm. It is generally well tolerated when used in the prescribed dosage guidelines. More common ones are generally mild and may include:
- Paleness
- Erythema
- Altered temperature sensation
- Edema
- Pruritus
- Burning sensation
Rare but more serious adverse effects may include:
- Anaphylaxis
- Respiratory depression
- Cardiac arrest
- Seizures
- Arrhythmias
- Coma
- Methemoglobinemia
How to Use
Wash your hands as well as the affected area well, before the application. Wipe dry.
Apply a thin layer of gel topically on the affected area – do not rub it harshly.
Contact with eyes may cause irritation or burning sensation. Hence, to avoid this, wash your hands well, post-application as well.
Apply the gel for the prescribed length of course even though your symptoms improve.
Overdosage
Avoid using more than the prescribed dosage. In case of an accidental overdose, look for any new symptoms. If you observe any, promptly seek medical advice or report it to the nearby poison control center.
Warnings and Precautions
Use the Manforce Gel Stay Long Gel 8gm only on the advice of a medical practitioner. Dosage adjustment or complete avoidance of the medication may be required in the following conditions:
Liver:
Caution advised among people with hepatic problems. If you have any, consult your doctor before using this gel.
Pregnancy:
May be used during pregnancy because fetal harm not expected based on minimal systemic absorption.
Lactation:
May be used during breastfeeding because harm to breastfeeding infants is not expected based on minimal systemic absorption.
Drug Interactions:
Caution always advised when used with other medicines especially when used with other gels, ointments, gels, and lotions. Therefore, inform your doctor about your current list of medications which you start or stop.
Precautions
- Avoid contact with eyes and mucous membrane
- Strictly for topical use: do not consume the gel orally
- Keep it away from sight and reach of children
- Do not use the medicine beyond its expiry.
- Recap the gel after its use.
- Do not apply on the open skin wounds and exfoliative dermatitis.
FDA Pregnancy Category
Category B: Animal reproduction studies have failed to demonstrate a risk to the fetus and there are no adequate and well-controlled studies in pregnant women.
