Zenflox OZ tablet is a combination medicine used in the treatment of bacterial infections such as lower respiratory tract, skin, ear, eye, urinary tract, and sexually transmitted infections. This medicine also helps to relieve one from pelvic inflammatory disease, tuberculosis typhoid, and typhoid fever, gonorrhea, amoebic dysentery, anthrax, and plague. However, the uses mentioned here are not exhaustive. There may be other conditions for which this medication may be used upon a doctor’s discretion.



The active ingredients of Zenflox OZ tablet are Ofloxacin 200mg and Ornidazole 500mg.

Ofloxacin is a fluoroquinolone which acts by showing bactericidal activity against a wide range of gram negative and gram positive microorganisms and also restrain bacterial topoisomerase IV and DNA gyrase enzymes.

On the other hand, Ornidazole is a 5 nitroimidazole derivative which acts by the destruction of helical DNA structure, inhibition of protein synthesis and cell death in
the susceptible bacteria.

Patients with the following conditions are suggested to seek advice from their health care professional before taking Zenflox OZ tablet:

  • Hypersensitivity to any of the drugs used in the tablet such as Ofloxacin and Ornidazole, other quinolones or nitroimidazole derivatives
  • Myasthenia Gravis
  • QT prolongation
  • Caution:
  • Bradycardia
  • Ventricular arrhythmias
  • Kidney or lung or heart transplant
  • Diabetes mellitus
  • CNS disorder
  • Seizure disorder
  • Hepatic impairment
  • Renal impairment

Side and Adverse Effects

The following side effects may or may not occur during the usage of this tablet. It is generally well tolerated when taken in prescribed dosage guidelines. More common ones are generally mild and may include:

  • Nausea
  • Diarrhea
  • Vomiting
  • Abnormal ECG
  • Headache
  • Insomnia
  • Photosensitivity
  • Rash
  • Agitation
  • Confusion
  • Tiredness
  • Taste disturbances
  • Temporary loss of consciousness

Rare but more serious adverse effects may include:

  • Anaphylaxis
  • Seizures
  • Toxic psychosis
  • Skin reaction severe

  • Crystalluria
  • Hypoglycemia severe
  • Tremor
How to Use

How to Use

Do not exceed the dose prescribed by your doctor.
Swallow the tablet whole, immediately after opening the tablet from the strip. Do not break or chew the tablet.
Avoid missing/forgetting a dose. If you do, take it as soon as you remember; but if it is time for your next dose, skip it and take it according to your normal schedule. Don’t consume two doses at the same time which is dangerous to your health.
Zenflox OZ tablet may be taken with or without food.
For adults, the usual dosage is 1 tablet twice in a day or as recommended by your doctor.
This tablet is not recommended for children under 12 years of age or as recommended by the physician.


Avoid taking more than the prescribed dosage. In case of an accidental over dose, promptly seek medical advice. Depending on the dosage, symptoms may vary but you may experience one or more of the following signs or symptoms:

  • Confusion
  • Dizziness
  • Impairment of consciousness
  • GI reactions

Take Zenflox OZ tablet only on the advice of a medical practitioner. Dosage adjustment or complete avoidance of the medication may be required in the following conditions:


Caution advised among people with renal problems. If you have any, consult your doctor before the consumption of this medicine.


Caution advised among people with hepatic problems. If you have any, consult your doctor before the consumption of this medicine.


Zenflox OZ tablet is not suggested for pregnant women – inform your doctor if you are pregnant or planning to become pregnant before taking the tablet.


Do not breastfeed after taking this tablet, because this drug can pass through breast milk and harm a breastfeeding baby.


Do not drive, operate heavy machinery or involve in any works which may need your alertness because this medicine may impair your reactions or thinking.

  • Keep Zenflox OZ tablet out of sight and reach of children.
  • Keep it in a cool and dry place, away from heat and moisture.
  • Do not use the medicine beyond its expiry date.
  • Do not use this medicine if the tablet strip is torn or the tablet is discolored.

What is Ofloxacin for:

This medication is a fluoroquinolone antibiotic, prescribed for certain types of bacterial infections such as chronic bronchitis, pneumonia, skin and skin structure infections, and others. It fights bacteria in the body.

How does Ofloxacin work:

Ofloxacin works to harm the bacteria and fight the infection.

How should Ofloxacin be used:

It comes as a tablet to take by mouth, with or without food. It also comes as eye drops to instill into the affected eyes as directed by your physician. Adult- PO- The recommended dose range is 200 to 800 mg per day in divided doses. Eye drops- Instill 1-2 drops into affected eye(s) every 4 hours.

Common side effects of Ofloxacin :

Headache. Belly pain. Upset stomach or throwing up. Many small meals, good mouth care, sucking hard, sugar-free candy, or chewing sugar-free gum may help. Loose stools (diarrhea). Yogurt or probiotics may help. You may get these products at health food stores or in some pharmacies. Tendons may rarely get irritated and tear. Unsafe allergic effects may rarely happen.

What do I do if I miss a dose

Take a missed dose as soon as you think about it. If it is close to the time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and go back to your normal time. Do not take 2 doses at the same time or extra doses. Do not change the dose or stop this drug. Talk with the doctor.

What precautions should I take when taking Ofloxacin :

Do not give oral product to a child younger than 18 years of age. If you have an allergy to ofloxacin or any other part of this drug. If you have had tendons get irritated or torn when taking this drug or an alike drug in the past. Tell your doctor if you are allergic to any drugs. Make sure to tell about the allergy and what signs you had. This includes telling about rash; hives; itching; shortness of breath; wheezing; cough; swelling of face, lips, tongue, or throat; or any other signs. If you have myasthenia gravis. If you are breast-feeding.

When do I need to seek medical help

If you think there was an overdose, call your local poison control center or ER right away. Signs of a very bad reaction to the drug. These include wheezing; chest tightness; fever; itching; bad cough; blue or gray skin color; seizures; or swelling of face, lips, tongue, or throat. A fast heartbeat. Very bad dizziness. Very upset stomach or throwing up. Very loose stools (diarrhea), even after drug is stopped. Pain in back of the ankle. Joint pain or swelling. Very bad muscle pain or weakness. Numbness or tingling in your hands or feet. Any rash. Side effect or health problem is not better or you are feeling worse.

Can I take Ofloxacin with other medicines:

Sometimes drugs are not safe when you take them with certain other drugs and food. - Taking them together can cause bad side effects. - Be sure to talk to your doctor about all the drugs you take.

How do I store Ofloxacin :

Store in a cool, dry place away from the reach of children. - Medicines must not be used past the expiry date.
