      Aceret 25Mg tablet belongs to retinoid group of medicines, used to treat severe skin conditions in which the skin has become thick and scaly. It is used to treat psoriasis, ichthyosis and keratosis follicularis (symptoms characterised by skin rashes, rashes involving the nails or joints, scaly skin, etc) in adult patients only. The medicine works by stopping the overgrowth and thickening of skin cells in psoriasis. In psoriasis, the cells in the outer layer of the skin grow faster than normal with irritated, red, inflamed, thicker skin. However, the uses mentioned here are not comprehensive, there may be other conditions for which the medication may be used upon your doctor’s discretion.

      Aceret 25Mg tablet works by improving the normal growth of the skin. It inhibits the excessive cell growth and keratinization (process in which the skin cells become thickened due to deposition of a protein within them).

      How to Use

      How to Use

      Take Aceret 25Mg tablet as instructed by your doctor. Swallow the tablet whole with water, immediately after opening it from the strip. Do not break or crush or chew the tablet.
      Avoid missing or forgetting the dose. If you do, take it as soon as you remember; but if it’s almost time for your next dose, skip it and take it according to your normal schedule. Don’t swallow two doses at the same time which is dangerous to your health.
      This tablet should be taken with or just after food or with a glass of milk. Drink plenty of water while having this treatment to stay hydrated. Take the tablet at the same time every day as it helps to maintain a consistent level of medicine in the body. This medicine is usually taken not more than once a day.
      Do not change the dose or stop taking the medicine before completion of the course or without consulting your doctor. Continue to use this drug until completion of the maximum amount suggested even though the symptoms disappear after the medicine has begun.

      Overdosage

      Avoid taking more than the recommended dosage. In case of accidental overdose, promptly seek medical advice. Depending on the dosage of Aceret 25Mg tablet, symptoms vary in individuals, you may experience one or more of the following symptoms:

      • Hepatotoxicity
      • Pancreatitis
      • Peripheral oedema
      • Psychiatric symptoms (aggressive feelings, suicidal thoughts)
      • Increased or decreased electrolytes

      Take Aceret 25Mg tablet only on the advice of medical practitioner. Dosage adjustments or complete avoidance of the medication may be required in the following conditions:

      Kidney:

      Caution is advised among people with kidney problems. Adjustments of dose of the medicine may be needed. Regular monitoring of kidney function tests is recommended while taking this tablet. If you have any renal problems, it is highly recommended that you consult doctor before the consumption of this medicine.

      Liver:

      Caution is advised among people with liver problems. Dose adjustments of the tablet may be needed. If you have any hepatic problems, it is highly recommended that you consult doctor before the consumption of this medicine. However, use of this tablet is not suggested in patients with severe liver diseases.

      Pregnancy:

      Use of Aceret 25Mg tablet is not recommended for use during pregnancy. Studies in human beings and animal have shown harmful effects on the developing baby. We highly recommend that you consult your doctor before the consumption of this medicine.

      Lactation:

      The medicine is unsafe to use for nursing mothers. Limited human data suggests that the medication may pass into the breastmilk and harm the infant. Consult your doctor immediately if the baby shows signs of increased sleepiness, breathing problems or difficulty in breast feeding.

      Alcohol:

      Consumption of alcohol with this tablet is not recommended as it increases side effects of the medicine. If you notice any unusual or abnormal reactions after taking the tablet, report to your doctor immediately.

      Driving:

      This medicine decreases alertness, cause impaired judgement, affect your vision and make you feel dizzy, difficulty in concentration, fatigue, light headedness. Do not drive, operate heavy machinery or involve in any works which may demand your attention or physical strength.

      Food:

      There are no known food interactions with this medicine.

      Drug Interactions:

      Inform your doctor or pharmacist if you are taking any other medicines which includes over-the-counter drugs, herbal tonics, supplements and medicines that you buy without a prescription. Alert your doctor if you are taking Aceret 25Mg tablet with methotrexate, phenytoin, tetracyclines, leflunomide, bexarotene, glimepiride, Vitamin A, doxycycline, chlorpropamide, isotretinoin, oral contraceptives.

      What is Acitretin for:

      It is used to treat severe psoriasis.

      How does Acitretin work:

      Acitretin is in a class of medications called retinoids. It reduces abnormal growth of skin cells that causes red, thickened, or scaly skin.

      How should Acitretin be used:

      It is usually taken once a day with food. Take it around the same time every day. It controls psoriasis but does not cure it. It may take 2-3 months before you feel the full benefit. Continue to take the drug even if you feel well. Do not stop it without talking to your doctor.

      What do I do if I miss a dose

      Take a missed dose as soon as you think about it. If it is close to the time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and go back to your normal time. Do not take 2 doses at the same time or extra doses.

      What precautions should I take when taking Acitretin :

      Do not take the drug if you had an allergic reaction to the medication in the past. Stop taking this drug and seek emergency medical attention if you experience an allergic reaction (difficulty breathing; rash; wheezing; itching; closing of your throat; swelling of your lips, tongue, or face; or hives).

      When do I need to seek medical help

      Seek help if you think there was an overdose or signs of a very bad reaction to the drug. These include wheezing, chest tightness, fever, itching, bad cough, blue or gray skin color, seizures, or swelling of face, lips, tongue, or throat. Seek help is a side effect or health problem is not better or you are feeling worse.

      Can I take Acitretin with other medicines:

      Do not take methotrexate, or tetracycline antibiotics while taking this drug. Tell your doctor about all medications, vitamins, nutritional supplements, and herbal products you are taking.

      Are there any food restrictions
