      Aciloc Tablet 150mg is used as an antacid to relieve pain. It helps in the treatment of peptic acid disease, heartburn, gastroesophageal reflux disease (also including erosive esophagitis). The medicine is also used in short-term treatment of active duodenal ulcer, in the maintenance therapy for patients of duodenal ulcer after healing and benign gastric ulcer. Further, this medicine also helps to treat ulcers caused by non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs. However, the uses mentioned here are not exhaustive. There may be other conditions for which this medication may be used upon doctor’s discretion.

      The active ingredient of Aciloc Tablet 150mg is Ranitidine 150mg.

      Mechanism of Action of Drugs

       

      Mechanism of Action of Ranitidine:

      Ranitidine works by blocking the H2 receptors – the receptors which are responsible for the release of stomach acid that digests the food. Thereby blocking these receptors will eventually result in reduced stomach acid.

      Patients with the following conditions are suggested to seek advice from their health care professional before taking Aciloc Tablet 150mg:

      • Hypersensitivity to any of the components used in the Aciloc Tablet 150mg such as Ranitidine
      • History of Porphyria (acute)
      • Caution:
      • Hepatic impairment
      • Renal impairment
      • Elderly or debilitated patients
      • Chronic pulmonary disease
      • Diabetes mellitus
      • Immunocompromised
      • PKU (phenylalanine-containing forms)

      Side and Adverse Effects

      The following side effects may or may not occur during the usage of Aciloc Tablet 150mg. It is generally well tolerated when taken in the prescribed dosage guidelines. More common ones are generally mild and may include:

      • Headache

      How to Use

       

      How to Use

      Do not exceed the dose prescribed by your doctor.
      Consume Aciloc Tablet 150mg with a glass of water immediately after opening it from the strip. Do not break /chew/cut the tablet.
      Avoid missing or forgetting a dose. If you do, take it as soon as you remember; but if it is time for your next dose, skip it and take it according to your normal schedule. Do not consume two doses at the same time which may prove dangerous to your health.
      Take this medicine either 30 min or 60 min prior to food.
      For children: take the advice of your doctor.

      Overdosage

      Avoid taking more than the prescribed dosage. In case of an accidental overdose, promptly seek medical advice. Depending on the dosage, symptoms may vary but you may experience one or more of the following signs or symptoms:

      • Seizures
      • Ventricular arrhythmias
      • Bradycardia
      • Gait abnormalities
      • Hypotension

      Take the tablet only on the advice of a medical practitioner. Dosage adjustment or complete avoidance of the medication may be required in the following conditions:

      Kidney:

      Caution advised among people with renal problems. If you have any, consult your doctor before the consumption of this medicine.

      Liver:

      Caution advised among people with hepatic problems. If you have any, consult your doctor before the consumption of this medicine.

      Pregnancy:

      May be used during pregnancy – because the risk of fetal harm is not expected (based on the minimal human data available).

      Lactation:

      This medicine may pass into breast milk and may harm a breastfeeding baby. Therefore, inform your doctor if you are breast-feeding a baby.

      Alcohol:

      Use of alcohol may increase the risk of damage to the stomach along with Aciloc Tablet 150mg.

       

       

       

       

      Drug Interactions:

      Caution always advised when used with other medicines such as vitamins, OTC medicines, herbal supplements especially when taking Triazolam. Inform your doctor about all the current list of medication to make sure the current medicine is safe for you.

      • Store this medicine in room temperature away from heat, moisture, and light.
      • Do not use Aciloc Tablet 150mg beyond its expiry.

      Drug Composition information
      What is Ranitidine for:

      This medication is an antacid, antireflux agent and antiulcerant, prescribed for peptic ulcer. It decreases the amount of acid made in the stomach.

      How does Ranitidine work:

      Ranitidine helps avoid harm to the GI (gastrointestinal) tract caused by stomach acid or infection.

      How should Ranitidine be used:

      It comes as a capsule and tablet to take by mouth, with or without food. Adult: PO- Initial: The recommended dose is 300 mg at bedtime or 150 mg twice daily for 4-8 weeks depending on the condition.

      Common side effects of Ranitidine :

      Feeling dizzy. Rise slowly over a few minutes when sitting or lying down. Be careful climbing. Headache. Hard stools (constipation). Drinking more liquids, working out, or adding fiber to your diet may help. Talk with your doctor about a stool softener or laxative. Loose stools (diarrhea).

      What do I do if I miss a dose

      Take a missed dose as soon as you think about it. If it is close to the time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and go back to your normal time. Do not take 2 doses at the same time or extra doses. Do not change the dose or stop this drug. Talk with the doctor.

      What precautions should I take when taking Ranitidine :

      If you have an allergy to ranitidine hydrochloride or any other part of this drug. Tell your doctor if you are allergic to any drugs. Make sure to tell about the allergy and what signs you had. This includes telling about rash; hives; itching; shortness of breath; wheezing; cough; swelling of face, lips, tongue, or throat; or any other signs. If you have porphyria.

      When do I need to seek medical help

      If you think there was an overdose, call your local poison control center or ER right away. Signs of a very bad reaction to the drug. These include wheezing; chest tightness; fever; itching; bad cough; blue or gray skin color; seizures; or swelling of face, lips, tongue, or throat. Very bad dizziness or passing out. Change in thinking clearly and with logic. Chest pain or pressure or a fast heartbeat. Any bruising or bleeding. Any rash. Side effect or health problem is not better or you are feeling worse.

      Can I take Ranitidine with other medicines:

      Sometimes drugs are not safe when you take them with certain other drugs and food. - Taking them together can cause bad side effects. - Be sure to talk to your doctor about all the drugs you take.

      Store in a cool, dry place away from the reach of children. - Medicines must not be used past the expiry date.
