Allercet DC tablet is an anti-allergic medicine belonging to group of medicines called anti-histamines. It is predominantly used to relieve symptoms associated with allergic rhinitis, hay fever and nasal congestion. It is prescribed for treating common cold symptoms such as stuffy nose, runny nose, sneezing, itchy throat, cough, congestion, itchy/watery eyes or for skin rashes such as chronic nettle rash, idiopathic urticaria in adult and children. This medicine is effective in treating both seasonal allergic rhinitis and perennial allergic rhinitis which occurs at any time of the year. However, the uses of the tablet mentioned here are not comprehensive, there may be other conditions for which the medication may be used upon your doctor’s discretion.
The active ingredients of Allercet DC tablet are and Cetirizine (10Mg) and Phenylephrine (10Mg)
Cetirizine is an antiallergic medicine which blocks chemical messenger, histamine to relieve symptoms associated with allergic rhinitis such as stuffy or runny nose, sneezing, watery eyes. Phenylephrine is a decongestant that acts by narrowing the small blood vessels providing relief from congestion and stuffiness in the nose.

Take Allercet DC tablet as instructed by your doctor. Swallow the tablet whole with water, immediately after opening it from the strip. Do not break or crush or chew the tablet.
Avoid missing or forgetting the dose. If you do, take it as soon as you remember; but if it’s almost time for your next dose, skip it and take it according to your normal schedule. Don’t swallow two doses at the same time which is dangerous to your health.
The tablet can be taken after with or without food. Take the tablet at the same time every day as it helps to maintain consistent level of medicine in the body.

This medication is a selective alpha agonist, used to increase blood pressure and topically as a nasal decongestant. It is also used in the eye to dilate the pupil or to constrict superficial blood vessels in eye allergy. It works by reducing swelling of the blood vessels in the nasal passages.
Phenylephrine shrinks swollen nose tissue and opens up passages. It shrinks blood vessels to raise blood pressure. It helps some numbing drugs work longer.
It comes as a tablet, a liquid, or a dissolving strip to take by mouth. It is also comes as eye drops and nasal solution, instilled over affected area.

If you have taken isocarboxazid, phenelzine, or tranylcypromine in the last 14 days. Monoamine oxidase inhibitors (eg, isocarboxazid, phenelzine, and tranylcypromine) must be stopped 14 days before this drug is started. Taking both at the same time could cause risky high blood pressure.
If you think there was an overdose, call your local poison control center or ER right away. Signs of a very bad reaction to the drug. These include wheezing; chest tightness; fever; itching; bad cough; blue or gray skin color; seizures; or swelling of face, lips, tongue, or throat. Chest pain or pressure, a fast heartbeat, or passing out. Very bad headache. Any rash. Side effect or health problem is not better or you are feeling worse.
Sometimes drugs are not safe when you take them with certain other drugs and food. - Taking them together can cause bad side effects. - Be sure to talk to your doctor about all the drugs you take.
