      Allerde tablet is an anti-allergic medicine belonging to group of medicine called anti-histamines. It is predominantly used to relieve symptoms associated with allergic rhinitis, urticaria, hay fever and nasal congestion. It is prescribed for treating common cold symptoms such as stuffy nose, runny nose, sneezing, itchy throat, cough, congestion, itchy/watery eyes or for skin rashes such as chronic nettle rash, idiopathic urticaria in adult and children above 6 years of age. This medicine is effective in treating both seasonal allergic rhinitis and perennial allergic rhinitis which occurs at any time of the year. However, the uses of the tablet mentioned here are not comprehensive, there may be other conditions for which the medication may be used upon your doctor’s discretion.

      Allerde tablet the tablet is well tolerated when taken in the recommended dosage guidelines. Most of the side effects are generally mild and you may experience one or more of the following symptoms:

      How to Use

      Take Allerde tablet as instructed by your doctor. Swallow the tablet whole with water, immediately after opening it from the strip. Do not break or crush or chew the tablet.
      Avoid missing or forgetting the dose. If you do, take it as soon as you remember; but if it’s almost time for your next dose, skip it and take it according to your normal schedule. Don’t swallow two doses at the same time which is dangerous to your health.
      The tablet can be taken after with or without food. Take the tablet at the same time every day as it helps to maintain consistent level of medicine in the body.
      Do not change the dose or stop taking the medicine before completion of the course or without consulting your doctor. Continue to use this drug until completion of the maximum amount suggested even though the symptoms disappear after the medicine has begun.

      Overdosage

      Avoid taking medicine more than the prescribed dosage. If you notice any unusual or abnormal reactions after taking the tablet, promptly seek medical attention. Depending on the dosage of Allerde tablet, symptoms vary in individuals, you may experience one or more of the following symptoms:

      • Shortness of breath
      • Irregular heartbeat
      • Urinary tract infection
      • Increased appetite
      • Dizziness

      Kidney:

      Caution is advised among people with kidney problems. Close monitoring of kidney function and adjustments of dose of the medicine may be needed based on the clinical condition of the patient. If you have any renal problems, it is highly recommended that you consult doctor before the consuming this tablet.

      Liver:

      Caution is advised among patients with liver problems. Dose adjustments of the medicine may be needed. If you have any hepatic problems, it is highly recommended that you consult doctor before the consuming this medicine.

      Pregnancy:

      This tablet is considered safe to use in pregnant women unless the potential benefits outweigh the risks involved. Despite the fact that there are limited studies in human beings, animal studies have shown harmful effects on the developing baby. It is recommended that you consult your doctor before consuming this medicine.

      Lactation:

      The medicine is likely safe to use for nursing mothers. Limited human data suggests that the medication may pass into the breastmilk. Consult your doctor immediately if the baby shows signs of increased sleepiness, breathing problems or difficulty in breast feeding.

      Alcohol:

      Consumption of alcohol with this tablet is not recommended as it increases side effects such as headache, dizziness. Any symptoms of abnormal reactions after taking the medicine should be reported to your doctor immediately.

      Driving:

      The tablet may decrease alertness, cause impaired judgement, affect your vision and make you feel dizzy, fatigue. Do not drive, operate heavy machinery or involve in any works which may demand your attention or physical strength.

      There are no known food interactions with this tablet.

      Inform your doctor or pharmacist if you are taking any other medicines which includes over-the-counter drugs, herbal tonics, supplements and medicines that you buy without a prescription. Alert your doctor if you are taking Allerde tablet with hepatic microsomal enzymes (azithromycin, cimetidine, erythromycin, fluoxetine, ketoconazole).

      What is Desloratadine for:

      This medication is an antihistamine, prescribed for allergic reactions in patients 2 years of age and older. It blocks histamines action, which reduces allergy symptoms.

      How does Desloratadine work:

      Desloratadine lowers or stops the bodys reaction to the allergen.

      How should Desloratadine be used:

      Adult: PO- The recommended dose is 5 mg once daily. Children 6 to 11 years of age: Syrup- The recommended dose is 1 teaspoonful (2.5 mg in 5 mL) once daily. Tablet- The recommended dose is one 2.5 mg tablet once daily. Children 12 months to 5 years of age: The recommended dose is 12 teaspoonful (1.25 mg in 2.5 mL) once daily. Children 6 to 11 months of age: The recommended dose is 2 mL (1.0 mg) once daily. It comes as a tablet to take by mouth, with or without food.

      Common side effects of Desloratadine :

      Feeling lightheaded, sleepy, having blurred eyesight, or a change in thinking clearly. Avoid driving and doing other tasks or actions that call for you to be alert or have clear eyesight until you see how this drug affects you. Headache. Dry mouth. Good mouth care, sucking hard, sugar-free candy, or chewing sugar-free gum may help. See a dentist often. Sore throat. Muscle pain. Belly pain.

      What do I do if I miss a dose

      Take a missed dose as soon as you think about it. - If it is close to the time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and go back to your normal time. Do not take 2 doses at the same time or extra doses. - Many times this drug is taken on an as needed basis.

      What precautions should I take when taking Desloratadine :

      Alert your doctor if you have glaucoma, asthma, stomach or intestinal ulcers, prostate problems or difficulty in urination. - Alert your doctor if you are pregnant or breastfeeding. Do not breastfeed while you are on Desloratadine. - Do not give Desloratadine to premature and newborn babies or children below 6 months. - Do not give Desloratadine to any child unless advised by the childs doctor or a pharmacist.

      When do I need to seek medical help

      If you think there was an overdose, call your local poison control center or ER right away. - Signs of a very bad reaction to the drug. These include wheezing; chest tightness; fever; itching; bad cough; blue or gray skin color; seizures; or swelling of face, lips, tongue, or throat. Very bad dizziness or passing out. Feeling very tired or weak. Any rash. Side effect or health problem is not better or you are feeling worse.

      Can I take Desloratadine with other medicines:

      Alert your doctor if you are taking any of these medicines: - mood medicines or sleeping pills - other medicines for allergy - antibiotics such as erythromycin. - Always inform your doctor and pharmacist if you are taking any other medicines, including herbal tonics, supplements and medicines that you buy without a prescription.
