Altraday capsule is a combination medicine used for the treatment of fever, pain and inflammation associated with joints and muscle spasm. It is used in moderate to severe pain relief, treatment of rheumatoid arthritis, spondylitis, osteoarthritis and in conditions such as headaches, body aches, tooth aches, menstrual pain and common cold. The capsule effectively relieves muscle stiffness, thereby improving muscle movement. However, the uses mentioned here are not comprehensive, there may be other conditions for which the medication may be used upon your doctor’s discretion.

The active ingredients of Altraday capsule are Aceclofenac (200MG) and Rabeprazole (20Mg)

Aceclofenac is pain-relieving medicine which work by blocking the release of prostaglandins (chemical messengers) in the brain that increase pain and inflammation. Rabeprazole, a proton pump inhibitor and anti-ulcer, stops the action of proton pumps that are found on the cells that line the stomach there by preventing damage caused by aceclofenac.

  • Hypersensitivity to the ingredients used in the capsule and other non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs
  • Concomitant use with Atazanavir and Rilpivirine medicines
  • History of active bleeding or bleeding disorders
  • Cardiovascular diseases
  • Moderate to severe renal and hepatic impairment
  • Pregnancy (third trimester)
  • Severe heart failure

The following side effects may or may not occur during the usage of Altraday capsule. It is usually well tolerated when taken in the recommended dosage guidelines. Most of the side effects are generally mild and you may experience one or more of the following symptoms:

  • Flatulence
  • Indigestion
  • Diarrhea

How to Use

How to Use

Take Altraday capsule as instructed by your doctor. Swallow the capsule whole with water, immediately after opening it from the strip. Do not break or crush or chew the capsule.
Avoid missing or forgetting the dose. If you do, take it as soon as you remember; but if it’s almost time for your next dose, skip it and take it according to your normal schedule. Don’t swallow two doses at the same time which is dangerous to your health.
The capsule should be taken with food or immediately after meals. It is usually taken once a day. Take the capsule at the same time every day as it helps to maintain a consistent level of medicine in the body.
Do not change the dose or stop taking the medicine before completion of the course or without consulting your doctor. Continue to use this drug until completion of the maximum amount suggested.

Overdosage

Avoid taking medicine more than the prescribed dosage. If you notice any unusual or abnormal reactions after taking the capsule, promptly seek medical attention. Depending on the dosage of Altraday capsule, symptoms vary in individuals, you may experience one or more of the following symptoms:

  • Headache
  • Epigastric pain
  • Excitation
  • Nausea

Use this capsule on the advice of medical practitioner. Dose adjustments or complete avoidance of the Altraday capsule may be required in the following conditions:

Kidney:

Caution is advised among people with kidney problems. Adjustments of dose of the medicine may be needed. If you have any renal problems, it is highly recommended that you consult doctor before the consumption of this medicine.

Liver:

Extreme caution is advised among people with liver problems. Dose adjustments of the medicine may be needed. If you have any hepatic problems, it is highly recommended that you consult doctor before the consumption of this medicine. Any symptoms such as nausea, fever, dark urine etc should be reported to your doctor immediately. However, use of this capsule is not suggested in patients with severe liver diseases.

Pregnancy:

Altraday capsule is not considered safe to use in pregnant women unless the potential benefits outweigh the risks involved. Despite the fact that there are limited studies in human beings, animal studies have shown effects on the developing baby. It is recommended that you consult your doctor before consuming this medicine.

Lactation:

This medicine is not considered safe to use in nursing mothers unless the potential benefits outweigh the risks involved. Since limited information is available about the safety of taking this capsule, consult your doctor if you are nursing mother and stay on the safe side.

Alcohol:

Consumption of alcohol with Altraday capsule is not recommended as it increases side effects of the medicine such as risk of liver injuries, gastrointestinal bleeding, dizziness, light headedness. If you notice any unusual or abnormal reactions after taking the capsule, report to your doctor immediately.

Driving:

The capsule may decrease alertness, cause impaired judgement, affect your vision and make you feel dizzy, light headedness, do not drive, operate heavy machinery or involve in any works which may demand your attention or physical strength.

Food:

Avoid grape fruit juice and alcohol as they may alter serum levels.

Drug Interactions:

Inform your doctor or pharmacist if you are taking any other medicines which includes over-the-counter drugs, herbal tonics, supplements and medicines that you buy without a prescription. Alert your doctor if you are taking Altraday capsule with other NSAIDs, isoniazid, cholestyramine, metoclopramide, lithium, digoxin, ramipril, prednisolone, methotrexate, barbiturates, tacrolimus, saquinavir, warfarin.

Precautions
  • Do not use this capsule post the expiry date
  • Do not use this medication for durations longer than suggested by your doctor

How should Aceclofenac be used:

To gain the most benefit, take the medicine daily or as prescribed by your doctor. It is usually taken twice a day. Take it with food.

Common side effects of Aceclofenac :

Indigestion, heartburn, dyspepsia, diarrhoea, nausea, abdominal pain and flatulence.

What do I do if I miss a dose

Take a missed dose as soon as you think about it. If it is close to the time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and go back to your normal time. Many times this drug is taken on an as needed basis.

What precautions should I take when taking Aceclofenac :

Inform your doctor is you suffer from history of peptic ulceration, cerebrovascular bleeding, ulcerative colitis, crohns disease, systemic lupus erythmatosus, porphyria, haematopoietic or coagulation disorders. The dose will be adjusted in people with hepatic, renal or cardiac function impairment.

When do I need to seek medical help

Do not take the drug if you had an allergic reaction to the medication in the past. Stop taking this drug and seek emergency medical attention if you experience an allergic reaction (difficulty breathing; rash; wheezing; itching; closing of your throat; swelling of your lips, tongue, or face; or hives).

Can I take Aceclofenac with other medicines:

Inform you doctor is you are taking lithium, digoxin, diuretics or ACE inhibitors. Be sure to talk to your doctor about all the drugs you take.
