Mechanism of Action of Drugs

Mechanism of Action of Drugs

Beta receptors, which are present in the heart, increases the heart’s pace and contraction strength. Atenolol, a long-acting beta-blocker, blocks beta receptors that works by slowing down the activity of your heart allowing it to beat slower and less forcefully. Amlodipine is a calcium channel blocker that works by normalizing the blood pressure by relaxing the blood vessels and improves blood flow and oxygen in the body, thereby reducing the risk of getting chest pain. It prevents the entry of calcium from entering into the muscles, leading to muscle relaxation. The combination is thus effective in reducing blood pressure.
