Uses and Benefits

Uses and Benefits

Amlokind AT Tablet is a combination medicine used to treat hypertension (elevation of blood pressure caused by genetic or environmental factors), chronic stable angina (heart related chest pain), congestive heart failure and other heart complications. The medicine works by slowing down the activity of your heart allowing it to beat slower and less forcefully and also relaxes the blood vessels and improves blood flow and oxygen in the body, thereby reducing the risk of getting chest pain. This medicine is used with a proper healthy diet and exercise program to control high blood pressure for best possible effects. However, the uses mentioned here are not comprehensive, there may be other conditions for which the medication may be used upon your doctor’s discretion.

Composition

Composition

The active ingredients of Amlokind AT tablet are Amlodipine (5Mg) and Atenolol (50MG)

Mechanism of Action of Drugs

Mechanism of Action of Drugs

Beta receptors, which are present in the heart, increases the heart’s pace and contraction strength. Atenolol, a long-acting beta-blocker, blocks beta receptors that works by slowing down the activity of your heart allowing it to beat slower and less forcefully. Amlodipine is a calcium channel blocker that works by normalizing the blood pressure by relaxing the blood vessels and improves blood flow and oxygen in the body, thereby reducing the risk of getting chest pain. It prevents the entry of calcium from entering into the muscles, leading to muscle relaxation. The combination is thus effective in reducing blood pressure.
