      Mechanism of Action of Drugs

      Mechanism of Action of Drugs

Amorolfine is an anti-fungal drug that changes the permeability of the cell wall of the fungal cells and prevents their growth. It binds to the phospholipids of the membrane and inhibits the fungal CYP450 activity, thereby decreasing ergosterol biosynthesis that are essential for the development of the cell membrane. This results in the death of cells due to the loss of intracellular sections.

It is used to kill a wide variety of fungi that can cause nail infections.

      How does Amorolfine work:

Amorolfine kills fungi and yeasts by interfering with their cell membranes. It works by stopping fungi from producing a substance called ergosterol, which is an essential component of fungal cell membranes. The disruption in production of ergosterol disrupts the cell membrane. The cell membranes of fungi are vital for their survival. They keep unwanted substances from entering the cells and stop the contents of the cells from leaking out. As amorolfine disrupts the cell membranes, it kills the fungal cells.

Allow the treated nail(s) to dry for approximately 3 minutes. Finger nails should be treated for 6 months and toenails for 9–12 months, with a review every 3 months. Dosage will also depend on your age, gender, medical condition, response to therapy, and use of certain interacting medicines.

Common side effects of Amorolfine :
