Amoxyrite 500mg Capsule is a penicillin type of antibiotic which is used for treating wide variety of bacterial infections of acute otitis media, sinusitis, lung infections, cystitis, gonorrhoea, dental abscess, typhoid, tonsilitis, endocarditis (where the inner walls of heart get swollen), pyelonephritis. It is also effective in treating pneumonia and peptic ulcers by eliminating a bacterium known as Helicobacter pylori. This medicine is not advised for treating a common cold, flu or other viral infections since it is not effective in treating these infections.
Amoxyrite 500mg Capsule is also given as a first line antibiotic to prevent a wide range of infections caused by bacteria which includes infections of the blood, bones, joints, brain and other dental infections. It works best for several infections that are suspected to be caused by bacteria but the type of bacteria is not known. However, the uses mentioned here are not exhaustive. There may be other conditions for which the medication may be used upon your doctor’s discretion.

Amoxyrite 500mg Capsule works by inhibiting the formation of bacterial protective covering or cell wall which is fundamental for the survival of the bacteria. By doing so, the medicine kills the infection causing bacteria and prevents the infection from spreading without making them resistant to further treatment.

Patients with following conditions are suggested to seek advice from their healthcare professionals before taking Amoxyrite 500mg Capsule.

  • Hypersensitivity to any of the ingredients used in the formulation
  • Any medicines belonging to the penicillins or cephalosporins group
  • Severe renal impairment
  • Infectious mononucleosis
  • Caution:

How to Use

How to Use

Do not exceed the dose prescribed by your health care professional. Take the capsule immediately after opening it from the strip. Do not crush or chew or break it.
Amoxyrite 500mg Capsule is best taken on an empty stomach at least 30 minutes or preferably two hours before meal. Avoid taking antacids within one hour or two hours after you take the capsule as few antacids can make it harder for your body to absorb Amoxycillin.
Avoid missing or forgetting the dose. If you do, take Amoxyrite 500Mg capsule as soon as you remember; but if it’s almost time for your next dose, skip it and take it according to your normal schedule. Continue to use this drug until completion of the maximum amount prescribed, even though the symptoms disappear after Amoxycillin has begun. Stopping the medication too early can allow the growth of the bacteria to begin, which can lead to an infection relapse.

Overdosage

Avoid taking more than the prescribed dosage. In case of accidental overdose, promptly seek medical advice. Depending on the dosage of Amoxyrite 500Mg capsule, symptoms vary but you may experience one or more of the following symptoms:

  • Vomiting
  • Nausea
  • Diarrhea
  • Urinating problems
  • Disturbance of fluid and electrolyte balance
  • Crystalluria
  • Convulsions

Take Amoxyrite 500mg Capsule only on the advice of medical practitioner. Dosage adjustments or complete avoidance of the medication may be required in the following conditions:

Kidney:

This medicine should be used with caution in patients with kidney disease. Dose adjustments may be needed. Close monitoring of kidney function is advised. If you have any renal problems, it is highly recommended that you consult your doctor before the consumption of this medicine.

Liver:

Amoxyrite 500mg Capsule should be used with caution in patients with moderate and severe liver disease. Dose adjustments may be needed. If you have any hepatic problems, it is highly recommended that you consult your doctor before the consumption of this medicine. Inform your doctor if you develop signs of jaundice like yellowing of skin and eyes, itching and clay-colored stools while taking this capsule

Pregnancy:

Amoxyrite 500mg Capsule is not considered safe to use in pregnant women unless the potential benefits outweigh the risks involved. Since the effect of the medicine on fetus is not clearly established, we recommend that you consult your doctor before consuming the tablet.

Lactation:

This medicine is unsafe for use by nursing mothers as amoxicillin passes into breast milk in small amounts. Hence, there is a risk of side effects on the infant. We recommend you to consult your doctor before consuming the tablet.

Alcohol:

Do not take Amoxyrite 500Mg capsule along with alcohol beverages as it may increase concentration of the medicine and this may cause severe adverse effects. Constantly consuming alcohol can negatively impact the absorption of the drug. If you consume alcohol on regular basis, relevant dose adjustments may be necessary depending on your clinical condition.

Driving:

Amoxyrite 500Mg Capsule may decrease alertness, cause impaired judgement, affect your vision and make you feel dizzy, light headedness, so do not drive, operate heavy machinery or involve in any works which may demand your attention or physical strength.

Food:

Intake of milk, cheese, yoghurt or any dairy products should be avoided as it may decrease the absorption of the capsule.

Drug Interactions:

Alert your doctor if you are taking any of the below medicines with Amoxyrite 500Mg capsule:
Medicines used in the treatment of Gout: Allopurinol, Probenecid
Anticoagulants: Warfarin
Antibiotics like tetracycline
Methotrexate
Drugs inducing hepatic enzymes: Rifampicin
Medicines for epilepsy: phenytoin, carbamazepine
Methoxyflurane: concurrent use may result in renal toxicity
Inform your doctor or pharmacist if you are taking any other medicines which includes over-the-counter drugs, herbal tonics, supplements and medicines that you buy without a prescription.

What is Amoxicillin for:

Amoxicillin is used to stop or treat certain bacterial infections, such as infections of the ears, nose, throat, urinary tract and skin.

How does Amoxicillin work:

It is a penicillin like antibiotic and works by stopping the growth of bacteria.

How should Amoxicillin be used:

To gain the most benefit, do not miss doses. Use as you have been told, even if you are feeling better. Take with or without food. Take with food if it causes an upset stomach. Chewable tablet: Chew or crush well. Mix crushed tablet with food. Do not swallow it whole. Extended release tablet: Take with food. Swallow tablet whole. Do not chew, crush, or break. Tablet for suspension: Mix the tablet in 2 teaspoons (10 mL) of water. Do not chew or swallow the tablet whole. There is a liquid (suspension) if you cannot swallow pills. Shake well before use. Those who have feeding tubes may also use the liquid. Flush the feeding tube before and after this drug is given. You may crush the tablet, melt it in water, and mix it with chocolate milk, milk, or pudding.

Common side effects of Amoxicillin :

Upset stomach or throwing up. Many small meals, good mouth care, sucking hard, sugar-free candy, or chewing sugar-free gum may help. Loose stools (diarrhea). Yogurt or probiotics may help. You may get these products at health food stores or in some pharmacies. For women, vaginal yeast infection. Report itching or discharge.

What do I do if I miss a dose

Take a missed dose as soon as you think about it. - If it is close to the time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and go back to your normal time. - Do not take 2 doses at the same time or extra doses. - Do not change the dose or stop this drug. - Talk with the doctor.

What precautions should I take when taking Amoxicillin :

If you have an allergy to amoxicillin, any penicillin, or any other part of this drug. Tell your doctor if you are allergic to any drugs. Make sure to tell about the allergy and what signs you had. This includes telling about rash; hives; itching; shortness of breath; wheezing; cough; swelling of face, lips, tongue, or throat; or any other signs.

When do I need to seek medical help

If you think there was an overdose, call your local poison control center or ER right away. Signs of a very bad reaction to the drug. These include wheezing; chest tightness; fever; itching; bad cough; blue or gray skin color; seizures; or swelling of face, lips, tongue, or throat. Very upset stomach or throwing up. Very loose stools (diarrhea), even after drug is stopped. Any bruising or bleeding. Any rash. Side effect or health problem is not better or you are feeling worse.

Can I take Amoxicillin with other medicines:

Sometimes drugs are not safe when you take them with certain other drugs and food. - Taking them together can cause bad side effects. - Be sure to talk to your doctor about all the drugs you take.
