Anfoe 10000/1.0ML injection belongs to erythropoiesis stimulating agents, is used to treat anaemia (low count of red blood cells) caused by kidney failure (a condition where your kidneys stop functioning over a period and cannot produce enough erythropoietin hormone responsible for formation of RBC) or chemotherapy associated anaemia (medicines used to treat cancer). It also is used during certain surgeries to decrease the need for blood transfusion. This medicine works by boosting the bone marrow (the spongy tissue in the centre of the bones) to increase the production of red blood cells. It is not recommended for use in patients below 18 years of age. However, the uses of this injection mentioned here are not comprehensive, there may be other conditions for which the medication may be used upon your doctor’s discretion.

It is safe to use in patients with kidney disease. No dose adjustments of the medicine are needed. However, if you have any renal problems, it is highly recommended that you consult your doctor before taking this medicine.
The injection should be used with caution in patients with moderate and severe liver disease. Close monitoring of liver function and adjustments of dose of the medicine may be needed based on the clinical condition of the patient. We highly recommend that you consult your doctor before the use. However, use of this medicine is not recommended for patients with severe hepatic impairment.
It is not considered safe to use in pregnant women unless the potential benefits outweigh the risks involved. Despite the fact that there are limited studies in human beings, animal studies have shown adverse effects on the developing baby. This medication is passed to infants through mother’s milk. Breastfed infants should be closely monitored. Since limited information is available about the safety of taking this injection, consult your doctor if you are nursing mother and stay on the safe side.

This medication is a haematopoietic agent, prescribed for anemia in people with chronic kidney failure. It helps in the formation of red blood cells by the bone marrow.
Erythropoietin regulates erythropoiesis by stimulating the differentiation and proliferation of erythroid precursors, stimulating the release of reticulocytes into the circulation, and synthesis of cellular haemoglobin.
Adults: Subcutaneous- 3-timesweek dosing: 150 unitskg 3 timesweek. Children: IV- Weekly dosing: 600 unitskgweek (max, 40,000 unitsweek). How it should be taken : It comes as a solution for injection to be administered by a healthcare provider under the skin or into the vein.
Hypertension, myalgia, arthralgia, flu like syndrome, rashes and urticaria. Hypertensive crisis with encephalopathy-like symptoms e.g. headache, confusion, generalised seizures. Thrombosis. Arrhythmia, cardiac arrest, conjustive heart failure and precipitation of myocardial infarction.

Its use may also lead to uncommon side effects such as irregular heartbeat, convulsions (seizures).
