Treatment of severe malaria
Severe malaria including cerebral malaria and as a second line treatment in chloroquine resistant falciparum malaria.
Take Artesunate exactly as directed by your doctor. Do not take more or less than instructed by your doctor. - Take Artesunate at regular intervals as directed. Do not skip any doses. Continue to take it even when you feel better. You must complete the entire course unless otherwise directed. If you do not complete the course, the infection may not clear completely. - Take Artesunate together with food or immediately after a meal.
Transient and reversible reticulocytopenia, drug fever, drug rash, bradycardia, transient first degree heart block and transient and reversible elevation of serum transaminases.
Take a missed dose as soon as you think about it. - If it is close to the time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and go back to your normal time. - Do not take 2 doses at the same time or extra doses. - Do not change the dose or stop this drug. - Talk with the doctor.
Alert your doctor if you are pregnant or planning to become pregnant.
Contraindicated during pregnancy especially in the first trimester.
Sometimes drugs are not safe when you take them with certain other drugs and food. - Taking them together can cause bad side effects. - Be sure to talk to your doctor about all the drugs you take.
Avoid Alcohol
Store in a cool, dry place away from the reach of children. - Medicines must not be used past the expiry date.
