      The Ascoril Plus Tablet is a combination of 3 drugs. It is used as an expectorant and mucolytic. This medicine is also used to relieve one from common cold, cough, chest tightness, influenza, and other respiratory-related infections. However, the uses mentioned here are not exhaustive. There may be other conditions for which this medication may be used upon doctors discretion.



      The active ingredients of Ascoril Plus Tablet are Guaifenesin 100mg, Terbutaline 2.5mg, and Bromhexine 8mg.

      Guaifenesin helps to reduce the viscosity of the thickened mucus.
      Terbutaline works by relaxing the muscles and opens the airways thus how relieves from chest tightness and shortness of breath.
      Bromhexine helps in making the phlegm or mucus more thinner and less viscous and expels out the mucus.

      Patients with the following conditions are suggested to seek advice from their health care professional before taking the Ascoril Plus Tablet:

      • Hypersenstivity to any of the ingredients used in the Ascoril Plus tablet such as Guaifenesin, Terbutaline, and Bromhexine
      • Acute tocolysis use
      • Prolonged tocolysis use greater than 48-72 hours (SC/IV use)


      • Nephrolithiasis
      • Ischemic heart disease
      • Arrhythmias
      • Diabetes mellitus
      • Seizure disorder
      • Hyperthyroidism
      • Labor and delivery
      • TCA use within 14 days

      The following side effects may or may not occur during the usage of Ascoril Plus Tablet. It is generally well tolerated when taken in the prescribed dosage guidelines. More common ones are generally mild and may include:

      How to Use

      How to Use

      Do not exceed the dose prescribed by your doctor. Swallow Ascoril Plus Tablet whole, immediately after opening the tablet from the strip. Do not break/cut/chew the Ascoril Plus tablet.
      Avoid missing or forgetting a dose. If you do, take it as soon as you remember; but if it is time for your next dose, skip it and take it according to your normal schedule. Do swallow two doses at the same time which is dangerous to your health.
      Take the tablet with or without food.
      Dosage as recommended by your doctor or follow the instructions given on the prescription.


      Avoid taking more than the prescribed dosage. In case of an accidental overdose, promptly seek medical advice. Depending on the dosage, symptoms may vary but you may experience one or more of the following signs or symptoms:

      • Nausea
      • Drowsiness
      • Gastrointestinal discomfort
      • Headache
      • Anxiety
      • Tonic cramps
      • Palpitations
      • Tachycardia
      • Arrhythmia
      • Hypotension
      • Hypokalemia

      Take the Ascoril Plus tablet only on the advice of a medical practitioner. Dosage adjustment or complete avoidance of the medication may be required in the following conditions:


      Caution advised among people with renal problems. If you have any, it is highly recommended that you consult your doctor before the consumption of this medicine.


      Caution advised among people with hepatic problems. If you have any, it is highly recommended that you consult your doctor before the consumption of this medicine.


      Guaifenesin: This drug may be used during pregnancy – risk of fetal harm is not expected based on human data.
      Terbutaline: Do not take this drug during pregnancy to prevent premature labor.
      Bromhexine: Do not take this drug during pregnancy because there are no controlled studies on pregnant women to prove that this drug is safe.


      Guaifenesin: Caution advised during pregnancy – no human data available to evaluate effects on milk production.
      Terbutaline: Do not take this medicine without the advice of a doctor – risk of infant harm not expected based on drug properties and insufficient human data and no data available to evaluate effects on milk production.
      Bromhexine: Do not take this medicine unless until suggested by a doctor because this drug may be excreted through breast milk and can harm a breastfeeding infant.

      Drug Interactions:

      Caution always advised during pregnancy therefore, inform your doctor about your current list of medicines which you start or stop.

      • Keep this medicine out of sight and reach of children.
      • Keep this medicine in a cool and hygienic place away from heat and moisture.
      • Do not use the medicine beyond its expiry.
      • Do not use the medicine if the tablet strip is torn or the tablet is broken.

      Acute and chronic bronchopulmonary diseases associated with abnormal mucous secretion and impaired mucous transport

      How does Bromhexine work:

      Potent mucolytic and mucokinetic agent, capable of bringing out bronchial secretion especially mucous plugs. Chronic obstructive lung disease and bronchiectisis.

      How should Bromhexine be used:

      Take this drug as directed by the doctor

      Common side effects of Bromhexine :

      Rhinorrhoea, lacrimation, gastric irritation and hypersensitivity.

      What do I do if I miss a dose

      Take a missed dose as soon as you think about it. - If it is close to the time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and go back to your normal time. - Do not take 2 doses at the same time or extra doses. - Do not change the dose or stop this drug. - Talk with the doctor.

      What precautions should I take when taking Bromhexine :

      If you have an allergy to bimatoprost or any other part of this drug. Tell your doctor if you are allergic to any drugs. Make sure to tell about the allergy and what signs you had. This includes telling about rash; hives; itching; shortness of breath; wheezing; cough; swelling of face, lips, tongue, or throat; or any other signs.

      When do I need to seek medical help

      If you think there was an overdose, call your local poison control center or ER right away. Signs of a very bad reaction to the drug. These include wheezing; chest tightness; fever; itching; bad cough; blue or gray skin color; seizures; or swelling of face, lips, tongue, or throat. Sudden change in eyesight, eye pain, or irritation. Any rash. Side effect or health problem is not better or you are feeling worse.

      Can I take Bromhexine with other medicines:

      Sometimes drugs are not safe when you take them with certain other drugs and food. - Taking them together can cause bad side effects. - Be sure to talk to your doctor about all the drugs you take.

      How do I store Bromhexine :

      Store in a cool, dry place away from the reach of children. - Medicines must not be used past the expiry date.
