      Uses and Benefits

      Uses and Benefits

Azoran 25MG tablet is an immunosuppressant drug, which is used in organ transplantation, haemolytic anaemia, hepatitis (inflamed liver), rheumatoid arthritis (inflammatory disease characterized by pain, swelling and stiffness of joints), dermatomyositis (inflammation of muscles and skin), polyarteritis nodosa (inflammation of blood vessels). This medicine is used alone or in combination with other medicines (corticosteroids) to prevent your body from rejecting an organ (liver, kidney or heart) after a transplant. It helps in preventing the immune response which allows the transplanted organs to work. It is also used to treat inflammatory bowel disease (ulcerative colitis or Chron’s disease). Close monitoring of blood cell count is necessary while receiving this medicine. However, the uses mentioned here are not comprehensive, there may be other conditions for which the medication may be used upon your doctor’s discretion.

      Mechanism of Action of Drugs

      Mechanism of Action of Drugs

Azathioprine works by decreasing the body’s immune system activity and helps in preventing the rejection of transplanted organs. It inhibits purine synthesis which is needed to produce DNA and RNA. DNA and RNA production are decreased resulting in less synthesis of white blood cells, thereby causing immunosuppression. It blocks the action of chemical messengers that are responsible for swelling, inflammation and redness associated with joint diseases.
