Bicatero 50Mg tablet is a non-steroidal anti-cancer medicine used in the treatment of prostate cancer either alone or in combination with luteinizing hormone-releasing hormone (LHRH) analogues. This medicine decreases or stops the growth of cancer cells by decreasing the amount of male hormones such as testosterone in men and also relieves difficulty in passing urine. It might have an effect on male fertility which could be reversible. Regular monitoring of serum prostate specific antigen (PSA) is required to access the patient’s response during this treatment. This tablet is not recommended for use in children, females and adolescents. However, the uses mentioned are not exhaustive, there may be other conditions for which the medication may be used upon your doctor’s discretion.

Bicalutamide works by blocking the action of male hormones (testosterone) on the prostate gland, thereby stopping the growth and spread of cancer cells. It blocks the undesired effects of androgens from adrenal and testicular origin and reduces the growth and proliferation of cancer cells by binding to androgen receptors.

Take Bicatero 50Mg tablet as instructed by your doctor. Swallow the tablet whole with water, immediately after opening it from the strip. Do not break or crush or chew the tablet.
Avoid missing or forgetting the dose. If you do, take it as soon as you remember; but if it’s almost time for your next dose, skip it and take it according to your normal schedule. Don’t swallow two doses at the same time which is dangerous to your health.
The tablet can be taken with or without food. If significant stomach upset occurs, it could be taken with food. The tablet is usually taken not more than once a day. Take the tablet at the same time every day as it helps to maintain a consistent level of medicine in the body.
Do not change the dose or stop taking the medicine before completion of the course or without consulting your doctor. Continue to use this drug until completion of the maximum amount suggested.

Overdosage

Avoid taking more than the recommended dosage. In case of accidental overdose, promptly seek medical advice. Depending on the dosage of Bicatero 50Mg tablet, symptoms vary in individuals, you may experience one or more of the following symptoms:

Alcohol:

Interaction of alcohol with this medicine is unknown. Any symptoms of abnormal reactions after taking the medicine should be reported to your doctor immediately.

Driving:

Alert your doctor if you are taking Bicatero 50Mg tablet with warfarin, pimozide, lomitapide, coumarin, ciclosporin, antiarrhythmic drugs, quinidine, cisapride, amiodarone, dofetilide, methadone, moxifloxacin, antipsychotics.

Nausea, vomiting, diarrhoea, asthenia, gynaecomastia, breast tenderness, hot flushes, pruritus, dry skin, alopecia, hirsutism, decreased libido, impotence, weight gain; less commonly hypersensitivity reactions including angioneurotic oedema and urticaria, interstitial lung disease; rarely abdominal pain, CV disorders (including angina, heart failure and arrhythmias), depression, dyspepsia, haematuria, cholestasis, jaundice, thrombocytopenia.

What do I do if I miss a dose

Take a missed dose as soon as you think about it. - If it is close to the time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and go back to your normal time. - Do not take 2 doses at the same time or extra doses.

If you have an allergy to bicalutamide or any other part of this drug. Tell your doctor if you are allergic to any drugs. Make sure to tell about the allergy and what signs you had. This includes telling about rash; hives; itching; shortness of breath; wheezing; cough; swelling of face, lips, tongue, or throat; or any other signs. If you are a woman.
