Bilagra M is a combination of two medicines belonging to a group of drugs known as anti-histamines. It is a safe and effective commonly prescribed non-sedating H1-antihistamine approved for symptomatic treatment in patients with allergic disorders such as rhino-conjunctivitis, urticaria and in asthma prevention. This medicine is also used in the treatment of various allergic conditions such as congestion, runny nose, stuffy nose, sneezing and watery eyes. It is used to treat or prevent bronchospasm during exercise in adolescents and adults.

By preventing certain chemical messengers in the body, the tablet reduces itching, rashes, inflammation in airways and makes breathing easier. However, uses mentioned for this tablet are not comprehensive, there may be other conditions for which the medication may be used upon your doctor’s discretion.

Bilagra M tablet consists of two medicines: Bilastine and Montelukast.

Bilastine, an anti-allergic medicine, treats symptoms like itching, inflammation and rashes by blocking the results of histamine (chemical messenger) in the body.

Montelukast is a Leukotriene receptor antagonist. It works by blocking the action of leukotriene, thereby reducing inflammation in the airways to stop asthma and relieve symptoms of allergies.

How to Use

How to Use

Do not exceed Bilagra M dose prescribed by your health care professional. Take the tablet immediately after opening from the strip. Do not break or crush or chew the tablet.

Avoid forgetting or missing the dose. If you do, take it as soon as you remember; but if its almost time for your next dose, skip it and take it according to your normal scheduled time. Don’t swallow two doses at the same time which is harmful to your health. Don’t change the dose or stop the drug.

Bilagra M tablet may be taken one hour before food or two hours after food.

Overdosage

Avoid taking quite the prescribed dose. In case of overdose, promptly seek medical advice. Counting on the dosage, symptoms vary but you may experience one or more of the following symptoms:

  • Excessive thirst
  • Sleepiness
  • Hyperactivity
  • Muscular cramps

What is Montelukast for:

This medication is a leukotriene receptor antagonists (LTRAs), prescribed for asthma. It works by blocking a substance called leukotriene.

How does Montelukast work:

Montelukast lowers the bodys making of a group of chemicals called leukotrienes that cause asthma to get worse. - It lowers or stops the bodys reaction to the allergen.

How should Montelukast be used:

It comes as a tablet to take by mouth with or without food. The recommended dose is 10 mgday.

Common side effects of Montelukast :

Flu-like signs. These include headache, weakness, fever, shakes, aches, pains, and sweating. Mild pain drugs may help. Nervous and excitable. Headache. Belly pain. Upset stomach or throwing up. Many small meals, good mouth care, sucking hard, sugar-free candy, or chewing sugar-free gum may help. Nose stuffiness.

What do I do if I miss a dose

Take a missed dose as soon as you think about it. If it is close to the time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and go back to your normal time. Do not take 2 doses at the same time or extra doses. Do not change the dose or stop this drug. Talk with the doctor.

What precautions should I take when taking Montelukast :

If you have an allergy to montelukast or any other part of this drug. Tell your doctor if you are allergic to any drugs. Make sure to tell about the allergy and what signs you had. This includes telling about rash; hives; itching; shortness of breath; wheezing; cough; swelling of face, lips, tongue, or throat; or any other signs.

When do I need to seek medical help

If you think there was an overdose, call your local poison control center or ER right away. Signs of a very bad reaction to the drug. These include wheezing; chest tightness; fever; itching; bad cough; blue or gray skin color; seizures; or swelling of face, lips, tongue, or throat. Signs of low mood (depression), thoughts of killing yourself, nervousness, emotional ups and downs, thinking that is not normal, anxiety, or lack of interest in life. Trouble breathing. Cough that does not go away. Use of short-acting puffer (inhaler) more often. Numbness or tingling in your hands or feet. Dark urine or yellow skin or eyes. Not able to eat. Change in the way you act. Any skin change. Any rash. Side effect or health problem is not better or you are feeling worse.

Can I take Montelukast with other medicines:
