Brimotas T 5ML eye drops is a combination medicine used to treat intraocular hypertension (increased fluid pressure inside the eye caused due to excess production of aqueous humour and incapacity of your eye to drain it), open angle glaucoma (characterized by progressive damage to the optic nerve that may eventually lead to vision loss). The increase in eye pressure mainly is due to an imbalance in the production and drainage of the fluid in the eyes. If left untreated, it can eventually lead to glaucoma and vision loss. It works by reducing the production of fluid in your eyes and lowers eye pressure. However, the uses mentioned here are not comprehensive, there may be other conditions for which the medication may be used upon your doctor’s discretion.
The active ingredients of Brimotas T 5ML eye drops are Brimonidine tartrate (0.2% W/V) and Timolol maleate (0.5% W/V)
Brimonidine tartrate is a carbonic anhydrase inhibitor that works by decreasing the production of aqueous humour (eye fluid) thereby reducing the pressure inside the eyes. If the high pressure is not reduced, it could lead to glaucoma and eventually damage your sight. Timolol maleate is beta blocker that reduces the fluid pressure in the eye.
