Brutaflam MR 4MG tablet is a pain killer used for the treatment of pain, swelling and inflammation associated with muscle spasm. It is used in mild to moderate pain relief, treatment of rheumatoid arthritis (auto immune joint disorder in which the immune system of the body targets small joints and damages them), acute gout (a painful condition that often affects the joints in your big toe caused due to deposition of uric acid), osteoarthritis (tender and painful joints due to wear down of protective cartilage between the ends of the bones), ankylosing spondylitis (pain and stiffness of bones of the spine) and also to relieve pain after dental surgery. The tablet effectively relieves muscle stiffness, thereby improving muscle movement. This medicine works by preventing the release of certain chemical substances that cause pain and swelling in the body. However, the uses mentioned here are not comprehensive, there may be other conditions for which the medication may be used upon your doctor’s discretion.

Etoricoxib works by blocking clyclooxygenase-2 (COX-2) enzyme in your body. When this enzyme is blocked, your body decreases the amount of inflammatory chemicals (prostaglandins) it makes thereby reducing inflammation and pain. Thiocolchicoside works on the certain receptors in the brain and spinal cord to prevent muscle contractions and relieve muscle spasms or stiffness.

How to Use

Take Brutaflam MR 4MG tablet as instructed by your doctor. Swallow the tablet whole with water, immediately after opening it from the strip. Do not break or crush or chew the tablet.
Avoid missing or forgetting the dose. If you do, take it as soon as you remember; but if it’s almost time for your next dose, skip it and take it according to your normal schedule. Don’t swallow two doses at the same time which is dangerous to your health.
The tablet can be taken with or without food. The tablet is usually taken not more than twice a day. Take the tablet at the same time every day as it helps to maintain a consistent level of medicine in the body.
Do not change the dose or stop taking the medicine before completion of the course or without consulting your doctor. Continue to use this drug until completion of the maximum amount suggested.

Overdosage

Avoid taking medicine more than the prescribed dosage. If you notice any unusual or abnormal reactions after taking the tablet, promptly seek medical attention. Depending on the dosage of Brutaflam MR 4MG tablet, symptoms vary in individuals, you may experience one or more of the following symptoms:

Kidney:

Extreme caution is advised among people with kidney problems. Adjustments of dose of the medicine may be needed. If you have any renal problems, it is highly recommended that you consult doctor before the consuming this medicine. However, this tablet is not suggested in patients with severe renal impairment.

Liver:

Caution is advised among people with liver problems. Dose adjustments of the medicine may be needed. If you have any hepatic problems, it is highly recommended that you consult doctor before the consuming this medicine. Any symptoms such as nausea, fever, dark urine etc should be reported to your doctor immediately. However, this tablet is not suggested in patients with severe hepatic impairment.

Pregnancy:

It is not considered safe to use in pregnant women unless the potential benefits outweigh the risks involved. Despite the fact that there are limited studies in humans, animal studies have shown adverse effects on the developing baby. It is recommended that you consult your doctor before consuming this medicine.

Lactation:

This medicine is not considered safe to use in nursing mothers unless the potential benefits outweigh the risks involved. Since limited information is available about the safety of taking this tablet, consult your doctor if you are nursing mother and stay on the safe side.

Alcohol:

Consumption of alcohol with this tablet is not recommended as it increases side effects such as risk of liver injuries, gastrointestinal bleeding, dizziness. If you notice any unusual or abnormal reactions after taking the tablet, report to your doctor immediately.

Driving:

The tablet may decrease alertness, cause impaired judgement, affect your vision and make you feel dizzy. Do not drive, operate heavy machinery or involve in any works which may demand your attention or physical strength.

Food:

Avoid grape fruit juice and alcohol as it may alter serum levels.

Drug Interactions:

Inform your doctor or pharmacist if you are taking any other medicines which includes over-the-counter drugs, herbal tonics, supplements and medicines that you buy without a prescription. Alert your doctor if you are taking Brutaflam MR 4MG tablet with aspirin, digoxin, ciclosporin, disulfiram, isoniazid, cholestyramine, rifampicin, phenytoin, carbamazepine, warfarin, metoclopramide, probenecid, chloramphenicol, tacrolimus.

Precautions

What is Etoricoxib for:

This medication is a non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID), prescribed for osteoarthritis, rheumatoid arthritis and gouty arthritis. It blocks a substance in the body named as cyclo-oxygenase-2 (COX-2).

How does Etoricoxib work:

It may also be used to provide relief in gout, Osteoarthritis (OA), Rheumatoid Arthritis (RA) and other similar conditions.

How should Etoricoxib be used:

PO- Adult- The recommended dosage is 60 to 120mg once daily. It comes as a tablet to take by mouth, with or without food.

Common side effects of Etoricoxib :

Alert your doctor if any of the following symptoms are severe or refuse to go away: - swelling of hands and legs. - rashes. - diarrhoea. - stomach pain. - tiredness.

What do I do if I miss a dose

Take a missed dose as soon as you think about it. If it is close to the time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and go back to your normal time. Do not take 2 doses at the same time or extra doses. Do not change the dose or stop this drug. Talk with the doctor.

What precautions should I take when taking Etoricoxib :

Do not take Etoricoxib if you have a history of allergic reactions (swollen eyes or mouth, difficulty breathing, rashes) to similar medicines such as aspirin, celecoxib, diclofenac, mefenamic acid, ibuprofen, indomethacin. Always ask your doctor or pharmacist if you are not sure. Etoricoxib may not be suitable for you if you have a history of heart, kidney, liver or blood clotting problems, stroke, high blood pressure, bowel inflammation or stomach ulcers. Alert your doctor if you have any of these conditions.

When do I need to seek medical help

If you think there was an overdose, call your local poison control center or ER right away. Signs of a very bad reaction to the drug. These include wheezing; chest tightness; fever; itching; bad cough; blue or gray skin color; seizures; or swelling of face, lips, tongue, or throat. Signs of infection. These include a fever of 100.5°F (39°C) or higher, chills, very bad sore throat, ear or sinus pain, cough, more sputum or change in color of sputum, pain with passing urine, mouth sores, wound that will not heal, or anal itching or pain. Very bad belly pain. Trouble breathing. Cough that does not go away. Very upset stomach or throwing up. Very loose stools (diarrhea). Any bruising or bleeding. Dark urine or yellow skin or eyes. Not able to eat. Feeling very tired or weak. Any rash. Side effect or health problem is not better or you are feeling worse.

Can I take Etoricoxib with other medicines:

Inform your doctor and pharmacist if you are taking any of the following medicines: - aspirin. - medicines that affect blood clotting such as warfarin, clopidogrel, dipyridamole, heparin. - furosemide. - lithium. - steroids such as dexamethasone, prednisolone. - rifampicin. - methotrexate. - Always inform your doctor and pharmacist if you are taking any other medicines, including herbal tonics, supplements and medicines that you buy without a prescription.
