It works by relaxing the blood vessels and improves blood flow and oxygen in the body, thereby reducing the risk of getting chest pain. This medicine is used with a proper healthy diet and exercise program to control high blood pressure for best possible effects. However, the uses mentioned here are not comprehensive, there may be other conditions for which the medication may be used upon your doctor’s discretion.

This medicine can be taken with or without food. If significant stomach upset occurs, it could be taken with food. The tablet is usually taken once a day. Take the tablet at the same time every day as it helps to maintain a consistent level of medicine in the body.
Do not change the dose or stop taking the medicine before completion of the course or without consulting your doctor. Continue to use this drug until completion of the maximum amount suggested.

PO- The recommended dose range is 30 – 60mgday in divided doses. It comes as a tablet and capsule, with or without food.

Feeling dizzy. Rise slowly over a few minutes when sitting or lying down. Be careful climbing. - Headache. - Upset stomach or throwing up. Many small meals, good mouth care, sucking hard, sugar-free candy, or chewing sugar-free gum may help. - Hard stools (constipation). Drinking more liquids, working out, or adding fiber to your diet may help. Talk with your doctor about a stool softener or laxativ

What do I do if I miss a dose

Take a missed dose as soon as you think about it. If it is close to the time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and go back to your normal time. Do not take 2 doses at the same time or extra doses. Do not change the dose or stop this drug. Talk with the doctor.

What precautions should I take when taking Diltiazem :

Alert your doctor if you have kidney, liver or any kind of heart disease. - Alert your doctor if you are pregnant or breastfeeding. Inform your doctor if you become pregnant while being treated with Diltiazem. Do not breastfeed while being treated with Diltiazem.

Very bad dizziness or passing out. Trouble breathing. Very bad headache. Feeling very tired or weak. Any rash. Side effect or health problem is not better or you are feeling worse.
