Clopiwyn 75mg Tab is an anticoagulant which works by preventing the formation of harmful blood clots. This medicine only prevents clots from growing larger and causing blockages in the blood vessels.

How to Use

How to Use

Clopiwyn 75mg Tab can be taken with food or on an empty stomach. The dose and duration should be followed as prescribed by your doctor. It is best to take this medicine at a fixed time. It is important that this medicine should not be taken more than the recommended dose.
Swallow the tablet whole with water, immediately after opening the tablet from the strip. Do not try to break/crush/chew the tablet.
Avoid missing or forgetting a dose. If you do, take it as soon as you remember; but if it is almost time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and take it at the next scheduled time. Do not take two doses of this medicine at the same time as it can be dangerous to your health.
Bear in mind that it takes a few weeks for the medicine to work so you need to take it regularly even if you feel it is not doing you any good. You must keep taking the medicine until your doctor advises you to stop.
This tab should be taken only by the person for whom it has been recommended by a qualified physician.

Overdosage

Signs and symptoms MAY BE NOTED in case of an overdosage. If you notice any unusual or abnormal reactions in your body after taking this medicine, please contact your doctor immediately. Kidney:

It is advisable to consult your doctor and let him/her know in advance if you have any ailments related to the renal issues before using this medicine.

Liver:

safe to use in case of any liver ailment/disorder? This medicine may be unsafe to use by patients with liver ailments. This medicine may harm the liver and people with liver disease may be at increased risk of developing severe complications. Tell your doctor in order to make sure the medicine is helping you and not causing any harm.

Pregnancy:

safe to use in pregnant women? This medicine may be unsafe for pregnant women. Although only limited studies have been carried out in humans, studies done on animals have shown harmful effects on the developing baby. This medicine is a powerful medicine and therefore, it should be taken by pregnant women only when recommended by the physician. The doctor will weigh the benefits and any potential risks before prescribing this medicine.

Lactation:

safe to use in breastfeeding women? This medicine may be unsafe if you are breastfeeding. This tablet should not be taken unless your doctor says it is necessary to use during breastfeeding. Whether this medicine may be used or not by a breast-feeding mother should be decided by the doctor.

Alcohol:

is it okay to consume alcohol during the use of this medicine? Interactions of alcohol with drugs may make them harmful or even toxic to the body. Consumption of alcohol is not advisable. Please consult your doctor.

Driving:

Most people do not realize that many prescription and over-the-counter medicines can cause drowsiness and impair the ability to drive, thus making driving dangerous for themselves and others. Food:

Interactions between food and drugs may inadvertently reduce or increase the effect of the drug. Some commonly used herbs, fruits or other ingredients may cause failure of the therapy or even cause serious alterations of the patient’s health. Reduced anticoagulant effect with foods rich in vitamin K (e.g. green leafy vegetables, liver, broccoli, brussels sprouts). Cranberry juice may increase INR and risk of bleeding. Drug Interactions:

Drug interactions may be dangerous as they could change how your medications work or increase your risk for serious side effects. Be sure to keep a list of all the medicines you use for other illnesses including prescription medicines and herbal products in order to share it with your doctor. Direct-acting antivirals may diminish the anticoagulant effect of vitamin K antagonists. Increased risk of bleeding with other anticoagulants, antiplatelet agents, NSAIDs, serotonin reuptake inhibitors. It is potentially fatal as there is an increased risk of bleeding with fibrinolytic drugs. Do not start Clopiwyn 75mg Tab on your own. Please consult your doctor.

What is Clopidogrel for:

This medication is an anti-platelet agent, that is, a drug that inhibits the ability of platelets to clump together as part of a blood clot. This medication is prescribed either alone or with other medications for prevention or treatment of stroke and heart attack (which are usually caused by blood clots) in persons who are at high risk.

How does Clopidogrel work:

Clopidogrel stops platelets from getting sticky and clumping.

How should Clopidogrel be used:

Oral- Prophylaxis of blood clot events- 75 mg once daily. Acute coronary syndrome For ST-elevation myocardial infarction: with aspirin: 75 mg once daily. For unstable angina, non-ST-elevation myocardial infarction: Initial: 300 mg loading dose, followed by 75 mg once daily (with aspirin 75-325 mg once daily). It comes as a tablet to take by mouth. It is usually taken once a day with or without food.

Common side effects of Clopidogrel :

Itching. Bleeding. Bruising. Nosebleed.

What do I do if I miss a dose

Take a missed dose as soon as you think about it. - If it is close to the time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and go back to your normal time. - Do not take 2 doses at the same time or extra doses. - Do not change the dose or stop this drug. - Talk with the doctor.

What precautions should I take when taking Clopidogrel :

Alert your doctor immediately if you have a history of any of these conditions: - bleeding disorders, for example, haemophilia. - stomach ulcers, especially if you have ever bled from a stomach ulcer. - low blood cell count (platelets, red or white blood cells). - liver disease. Clopidogrel may increase the risk of abnormal bleeding. It is important to alert your doctor if you have any of these illnesses, as the risk of bleeding may be further increased.

When do I need to seek medical help

If you think there was an overdose, call your local poison control center or ER right away. Signs of a very bad reaction to the drug. These include wheezing; chest tightness; fever; itching; bad cough; blue or gray skin color; seizures; or swelling of face, lips, tongue, or throat. Chest pain or pressure. Change in strength on 1 side is greater than the other, trouble speaking or thinking, change in balance, or blurred eyesight. Trouble breathing. Feeling very tired or weak. Change in thinking clearly and with logic. Sudden change in eyesight. Any bruising or bleeding. Yellow skin or eyes. Change in skin color to black or purple. Any rash. Side effect or health problem is not better or you are feeling worse.

Can I take Clopidogrel with other medicines:

Inform your doctor if you are taking any other medicines, especially these listed here: - other blood-thinning medicines such as warfarin, aspirin and ticlopidine. - painkillers known as NSAIDs, for example, diclofenac, ibuprofen, naproxen, mefenamic acid. - Avoid medicines such as omeprazole, esomeprazole, cimetidine, fluconazole, ketoconazole, voriconazole, etravirine, felbamate and fluvoxamine. Alert your doctor if you are taking any of these medicines. Do not take antacids together with Clopidogrel. If you must take antacids, take them at least 1 hour before or 2 hours after you have taken Clopidogrel. Antacids can reduce the effectiveness of Clopidogrel when taken together. Always inform your doctor and pharmacist if you are taking any other medicines, including herbal tonics, supplements and medicines that you buy without a prescription.
