It is a vasodilator and enhances blood flow to the peripheral and cerebral tissues. It is a combination of xantinol and niacin.
It belongs to the category of theophylline drugs. Circulation is enhanced by increasing the erythrocyte elasticity, vasodilation and improving cardiac function.
Usual dose is 300 to 600 mg 3 times daily with meals in adults
Flushing and a sensation of heat.
If you miss a dose, take it as soon as possible when you remember it. If it is almost time for the next dose, skip the missed dose and go back to your regular dosing schedule. Do not take a double dose.
Patients with labile blood pressure, peptic ulceration, recent heart attacks, or stroke, and poor kidney function should avoid the use of this drug.
Seek help if you are experiencing a severe allergic reaction. Symptoms include rash, swelling, and difficulty in breathing. Contact your doctor if any side effects are severe or are worsening.
Usage with other vasodilators and sympatholytic agents should be avoided.
Avoid alcohol. Follow a regular diet.
Store at room temperature away from heat, moisture and direct light. Keep out of reach of children. Do not use a medicine beyond its expiry date.
Category D : There is positive evidence of human fetal risk. Do not use in pregnant or nursing mothers.
