Concor AM Tablet 2.5mg is used to treat angina pectoris, hypertension, coronery artery disease, and chronic heart failure. However, the uses mentioned here are not exhaustive. There may be other conditions for which this medication may be used upon a doctor’s discretion.

The active ingredients of Concor AM Tablet 2.5mg are Bisoprolol 2.5mg and Amlodipine 5mg.

Bisoprolol is a beta-blocker that acts by blocking beta receptors present in the heart and makes the heart to beat slowly and less forcefully. Thus how reduces pressure while blood is pumping out of the heart and around the body. Hence, helps in reducing blood pressure.

Amlodipine works by widening the walls of the blood vessels thereby lowers the blood pressure and also helps to improve the supply of blood to the heart.

Patients with the following conditions are suggested to seek advice from their health care professionals before taking the Concor AM Tablet 2.5mg:

  • Hypersensitivity to any of the ingredients used in the Concor AM Tablet 2.5mg such as Bisoprolol and Amlodipine
  • Sinus bradycardia
  • 2nd or 3rd degree AV block
  • Heart failure, uncompensated
  • Cardiogenic shock
  • Sick sinus syndrome without pacemaker
  • Avoid abrupt withdrawal
  • Caution:
  • PVD
  • Bronchospastic disease
  • Major surgery
  • Diabetes mellitus
  • Thyroid disorder
  • WPW syndrome
  • Pheochromocytoma
  • Hepatic impairment
  • Pregnancy 2nd or 3rd trimester
  • Myasthenia Gravis
  • Severe anaphylactic reaction history
  • Severe CAD
  • Severe aortic stenosis

The following side effects may or may not occur during the usage of this Concor-Cor tablet 2.2.5mg. It is generally well tolerated when taken in the prescribed dosage guidelines. More common ones are generally mild and may include:

  • Blood and lymphatic system disorder

  • GI disorders
  • Musculoskeletal and connective tissue disorders
  • Respiratory disorders, thorasic, and mediastinal disorders
  • Nervous system disorders
  • Psychiatric disorders
  • Peripheral edema
  • Fatigue
  • Palpitations
  • Eczematous eruptions

Rare but more serious adverse effects may include:

  • Angina exacerbation
  • MI
  • Hypotension acute
  • Hepatitis
  • Hypersensitivity reaction
  • Erythema multiforme
How to Use

How to Use

Do not exceed the dose prescribed by your doctor.
Swallow the Concor AM Tablet 2.5mg immediately after opening it from the strip. Do not break or chew the Concor AM tablet.
Avoid missing/forgetting a dose. If you do, take it as soon as you remember; but if it is almost time for your next dose, skip it and take it according to your normal schedule. Don’t consume two doses at the same time which may be dangerous to your health.
Take the Concor AM Tablet 2.5mg with or without food.
Take the medication at the prescribed time and dosage.

Overdosage

Avoid taking more than the prescribed dosage. In case of an accidental overdose, promptly seek medical advice. Depending on the dosage, symptoms may vary but you may experience any one or more of the following signs or symptoms:

  • Bradycardia
  • Hypotension
  • Bronchospasm
  • Hypoglycemia
  • Dysrhythmia
  • Marked hypotension
  • Excessive peripheral vasodilation
  • Reflux tachy cardia
  • Shock

Take the Concor AM Tablet 2.5mg only on the advice of a medical practitioner. Dosage adjustment or complete avoidance of the medication may be required in the following conditions:

Kidney:

Caution advised among people with renal problems. If you have any, consult your doctor before the consumption of this Concor AM Tablet 2.5mg.

Liver:

Caution advised among people with hepatic problems. If you have any, consult your doctor before the consumption of this Concor AM Tablet 2.5mg.

Pregnancy:

Caution advised during this period, especially in the last 2 trimesters. Therefore, inform your doctor if you are pregnant or planning to become pregnant during the treatment.

Lactation:

Safety during lactation is unknown. Therefore, consult your doctor before taking the Concor AM Tablet 2.5mg.

Drug Interactions:

Caution always advised when used with other drugs. Therefore, inform your doctor if you start or stop using any medication(s) during the treatment.

Precautions
  • Keep the medicine out of sight and reach of children.
  • Store at room temperature, protect from heat and moisture.
  • Do not use the Concor AM Tablet 2.5mg beyond its expiry.

What is Amlodipine for:

It is used to treat high blood pressure and chest pain or pressure (angina).

How does Amlodipine work:

It is a calcium channel blocker. It lowers the blood pressure by relaxing the blood vessels. It controls chest pain by increasing blood supply to the heart muscle. If taken regularly, amlodipine controls chest pain, but it does not stop chest pain once it starts.

How should Amlodipine be used:

Take Amlodipine exactly as directed by your doctor. - Do not take more or less than instructed by your doctor. - Amlodipine must be taken regularly for it to work well. - Continue taking Amlodipine even when you feel better. - Do not stop taking it unless instructed by your doctor. - You may take Amlodipine with or without food. - Try to take it at the same time each day.

Common side effects of Amlodipine :

Feeling dizzy. Rise slowly over a few minutes when sitting or lying down. Be careful while climbing. - Headache. - Hard stools (constipation). Drinking more liquids, working out, or adding fiber to your diet may help. - Talk with your doctor about a stool softener or laxative. - Swelling in the arms or legs.

What do I do if I miss a dose

Take a missed dose as soon as you think about it. - If it is close to the time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and go back to your normal time. - Do not take 2 doses at the same time or extra doses. - Do not change the dose or stop this drug. - Talk with the doctor.

What precautions should I take when taking Amlodipine :

Alert your doctor if you have heart or liver disease. - Alert your doctor if you are pregnant or breastfeeding. - Do not breastfeed while you are being treated with Amlodipine.

When do I need to seek medical help

If you think there was an overdose, call your local poison control center or ER right away. - Signs of a very bad reaction to the drug. - These include wheezing, chest tightness, fever, itching, bad cough, blue or gray skin color, seizures, or swelling of face, lips, tongue, or throat. - Very low blood sugar or very high blood sugar. - Very bad dizziness. - Trouble breathing. - Feeling cold. - Very bad belly pain. - Very upset stomach or throwing up. - Very loose stools (diarrhea). - A big weight loss. - Very bad muscle pain or weakness. - Feeling very tired or weak. - Any rash. - Side effect or health problem is not better or you are feeling worse.

Can I take Amlodipine with other medicines:

Inform your doctor and pharmacist if you are taking any other medicines, especially those listed here: Medicines for high blood pressure or heart disease. - Antiviral medicines such as ritonavir. - Antifungal medicines such as itraconazole, ketoconazole. - Always inform your doctor and pharmacist if you are taking any other medicines, including herbal tonics, supplements and medicines that you buy without a prescription.
