Coversyl AM 8/5Mg tablet is a combination medicine used to treat hypertension (elevation of blood pressure caused by genetic or environmental factors), stable coronary artery disease and other heart complications when a single medication is not effective. It also aids in prevention of heart attack and stroke due to increased blood pressure. The medicine works by slowing down the activity of your heart allowing it to beat slower and less forcefully and also relaxes the blood vessels and improves blood flow and oxygen in the body, thereby reducing the risk of getting chest pain. This medicine is used with a proper healthy diet and exercise program to control high blood pressure for best possible effects. It is not recommended as initial therapy for patients with high blood pressure. However, the uses mentioned here are not comprehensive, there may be other conditions for which the medication may be used upon your doctor’s discretion.
The active ingredients of Coversyl AM 8/5Mg tablet are Amlodipine (5Mg) and Perindopril (8Mg)
Amlodipine, a calcium channel blocker works by normalizing the blood pressure by relaxing the blood vessels and improves blood flow and oxygen in the body, thereby reducing the risk of getting chest pain. It prevents the entry of calcium from entering into the muscles, leading to muscle relaxation. Perindopril, angiotensin converting enzyme inhibitor works by reducing stress on the heart and allows heart to pump blood more efficiently. The combination is thus effective in reducing blood pressure.
