      Cremopen Plus syrup is a combination of stool softening medicines used in the treatment of constipation. The syrup stimulates bowel movements, empty your intestines and relieve constipation. It also relieves the pain and abdominal discomfort caused due to constipation. However, the uses mentioned are not exhaustive, there may be other conditions for which the medication may be used upon your doctor’s discretion.

      Cremopen Plus syrup works by bringing water into the colon through osmosis which makes the stools softer and easier to pass. Liquid paraffin has lubricant properties and softens faecal material. Magnesium hydroxide, sodium picosulphate and liquid paraffin together make the stool soft and slippery making it easier to pass, thus resulting in bowel evacuation.

      Do not exceed the dose prescribed by your health care professional. Avoid missing or forgetting the dose, if you do, take Cremopen Plus syrup as soon as remember, however if it’s almost time for your next dose, skip the previous dose and take it according to your normal scheduled time.
      Cremopen Plus syrup should be taken on an empty stomach. Intake of fibre rich food including whole grain bread and cereals, fruits and vegetables should be increased. The syrup should preferably be taken at bedtime as it requires 8-12 hours to show its effect.

      Overdosage

      Avoid taking more than the recommended dosage. If you notice any unusual or abnormal reactions after taking the syrup, promptly seek medical attention. Depending on the dosage of Cremopen Plus syrup, symptoms vary in individuals, you may experience one or more of the following symptoms:

      • Anal irritation
      • Diarrhea
      • Loss of electrolytes
      •  Abdominal pain
        Administer fluid and electrolyte replacement as required for extensive fluid loss due to diarrhea or vomiting.

      Pregnancy:

      Lactation:

      Alcohol:

      Alcohol consumption may increase the elimination and reduce the absorption of the active ingredients in the syrup. Constantly consuming alcohol can negatively impact the absorption of the drug. Since limited information is available on safety of taking Cremopen Plus syrup, consult your doctor and stay on the safe side.

      Driving:

      Cremopen Plus syrup does not cause drowsiness or dizziness. If you notice any abnormal reactions after taking the medicine, do not drive, operate heavy machinery or involve in any works which may demand your attention or physical strength.

      Food:

      There are no known food interactions with Cremopen Plus syrup.

      What is Magnesium Hydroxide for:

      This medication is an antacid, prescribed for hyperacidity. It is also used as a laxative. It reduces stomach acid and increases water in the intestine.

      How does Magnesium Hydroxide work:

      Antacids lower stomach acid. Magnesium is a diet aid.

      How should Magnesium Hydroxide be used:

      It comes as a tablet and liquid to take by mouth, with or without food. Upto 1 gday usually given with an Al-containing antacid. Osmotic laxative 2.4-4.8 gday in single or divided doses.

      Common side effects of Magnesium Hydroxide :

      GI irritation, diarrhea, abdominal cramps and paralytic ileus.

      What do I do if I miss a dose

      Take a missed dose as soon as you think about it. If it is close to the time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and go back to your normal time. Many times this drug is taken on an as needed basis.

      What precautions should I take when taking Magnesium Hydroxide :

      If you have an allergy to magnesium hydroxide or any other part of this drug. Tell your doctor if you are allergic to any drugs. Make sure to tell about the allergy and what signs you had. This includes telling about rash; hives; itching; shortness of breath; wheezing; cough; swelling of face, lips, tongue, or throat; or any other signs.

      When do I need to seek medical help

      If you think there was an overdose, call your local poison control center or ER right away. Signs of a very bad reaction to the drug. These include wheezing; chest tightness; fever; itching; bad cough; blue or gray skin color; seizures; or swelling of face, lips, tongue, or throat. Very upset stomach or throwing up. Very hard stools (constipation). Very loose stools (diarrhea). Any bruising or bleeding. Any rash. Side effect or health problem is not better or you are feeling worse.

      Can I take Magnesium Hydroxide with other medicines:

      Sometimes drugs are not safe when you take them with certain other drugs and food. - Taking them together can cause bad side effects. - Be sure to talk to your doctor about all the drugs you take.
