      Diabend 40MG tablet is a long-acting anti-diabetic medicine used alone or in combination with other medicines (insulin) to treat type 2 diabetes mellitus. The tablet helps get rid of extra glucose from your body through urine. This medicine is used with a proper healthy diet and exercise program to control high blood sugar in people with type 2 diabetes. Controlling high blood sugar level helps in preventing kidney damage, blindness, nerve problems and loss of limbs is lowered. However, the uses of the tablet mentioned here are not exhaustive. There may be other conditions for which this medication may be used upon doctor’s discretion.

      How to Use

      Take Diabend 40MG tablet as instructed by your doctor. Swallow the tablet whole with water, immediately after opening it from the strip. Do not break or crush or chew the tablet.
      Avoid missing or forgetting the dose. If you do, take it as soon as you remember; but if it’s almost time for your next dose, skip it and take it according to your normal schedule. Don’t swallow two doses at the same time which is dangerous to your health.
      The tablet should be taken with food, immediately or during breakfast or the first main meal of the day. Take the tablet at the same time every day as it helps to maintain a consistent level of medicine in the body.
      Do not change the dose or stop taking the medicine before completion of the course or without consulting your doctor. Continue to use this drug until completion of the maximum amount suggested. This medicine is not recommended for children below 18 years of age.

      Overdosage

      Avoid taking Diabend 40MG tablet more than the prescribed dosage. In case of an accidental overdose of the medicine, promptly ask for medical advice. Depending on the dosage of the medicine, symptoms may vary in individuals, you may experience the following signs or symptoms:

      Pregnancy:

      This tablet should be used with caution during pregnancy. Despite the fact that there are limited studies in human beings, animal studies have shown adverse effects on the developing baby. It is recommended that you consult your doctor before consuming this medicine.

      Lactation:

      This medicine is not considered safe to use in nursing mothers unless the potential benefits outweigh the risks involved. Since the effect of the medicine on infants is not clearly established, we recommend that you to consult your doctor before consuming the tablet.

      Alcohol:

      Consumption of alcohol with this tablet is not recommended as it increases side effects of the tablet. If found any symptoms of extreme drowsiness, vomiting, confusion, report to your doctor immediately.

      Driving:

      This medicine affects blood glucose levels and may decrease alertness, cause impaired judgement, affect your vision and make you feel dizzy. Do not drive, operate heavy machinery or involve in any works which may demand your attention or physical strength.

Alert your doctor if you are taking Diabend 40MG tablet with phenylbutazone, chloramphenicol, warfarin, acarbose, ACE inhibitors, sulfonylurea, Dichlorphenamide, fluconazole, NSAIDs, other antidiabetic agents (insulin, metformin), miconazole, mono amine oxidase inhibitors, chlorpromazine.

      What is Gliclazide for:

      This medication is an oral hypoglycemic (anti-diabetic drug), prescribed for type 2 diabetes.

      How does Gliclazide work:

      It stimulates the pancreas, which helps in more insulin secretion.

      How should Gliclazide be used:

      It comes as a tablet to take by mouth, with food. Initially start with 160mgs daily in two divided doses. May go up to 320 mgs daily in two divided doses.

      Common side effects of Gliclazide :

      Low blood sugar. Signs include anger, shaking, a fast heartbeat, confusion, or sweating. Keep hard candies, glucose tablets, liquid glucose, or juice on hand for low blood sugar. Upset stomach or throwing up. Many small meals, good mouth care, sucking hard, sugar-free candy, or chewing sugar-free gum may help. Weight gain.

      What do I do if I miss a dose

      Take a missed dose as soon as you think about it. If it is close to the time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and go back to your normal time. Do not take 2 doses at the same time or extra doses. Do not change the dose or stop this drug. Talk with the doctor.

      What precautions should I take when taking Gliclazide :

      If you have an allergy to gliclazide or any other part of this drug. Tell your doctor if you are allergic to any drugs. Make sure to tell about the allergy and what signs you had. This includes telling about rash; hives; itching; shortness of breath; wheezing; cough; swelling of face, lips, tongue, or throat; or any other signs. If you have a sulfa (sulfonamide) allergy, talk with your doctor. If you have any of these health problems: Acidic blood problem, very bad kidney disease, very bad liver disease, or type 1 diabetes. If you are pregnant or may be pregnant. If you are breast-feeding.

      When do I need to seek medical help

      If you think there was an overdose, call your local poison control center or ER right away. Signs of a very bad reaction to the drug. These include wheezing; chest tightness; fever; itching; bad cough; blue or gray skin color; seizures; or swelling of face, lips, tongue, or throat. Signs of infection. These include a fever of 100.5°F (38°C) or higher, chills, very bad sore throat, ear or sinus pain, cough, more sputum or change in color of sputum, pain with passing urine, mouth sores, wound that will not heal, or anal itching or pain. Very upset stomach or throwing up. Very low blood sugar or very high blood sugar. Any rash. Side effect or health problem is not better or you are feeling worse.

      Sometimes drugs are not safe when you take them with certain other drugs and food. - Taking them together can cause bad side effects. - Be sure to talk to your doctor about all the drugs you take.
