      Divon AQ injection is a pain-relieving medicine used for the treatment of pain, swelling and inflammation associated with muscle spasm. It is used in moderate to severe pain relief, treatment of rheumatoid arthritis (auto immune joint disorder in which the immune system of the body targets small joints and damages them), osteoarthritis (tender and painful joints due to wear down of protective cartilage between the ends of the bones), ankylosing spondylitis (pain and stiffness of bones of the spine), dysmenorrhea, migraine attacks, gout (excess uric acid crystallises) and in conditions such as lower back pain, body aches, menstrual pain and common cold. The injection effectively relieves muscle stiffness, thereby improving muscle movement. This medicine is also used in the relief of post operative pain. However, the uses mentioned here are not comprehensive, there may be other conditions for which the medication may be used upon your doctor’s discretion.

      Diclofenac works by blocking clyclooxygenase-2 (COX-2) enzyme in your body. When this enzyme is blocked, your body decreases the amount of inflammatory chemicals (prostaglandins) it makes thereby reducing inflammation and pain.

      How to Use

      Do not self-administer Divon AQ injection, your nurse or trained physician will give you the medicine. Avoid missing or forgetting the dose. If you do, take it as soon as you remember; but if it’s almost time for your next dose, skip it and take it according to your normal schedule.
      The injection should be taken with food. Take the injection at the same time every day as it helps to maintain a consistent level of medicine in the body.
      Do not change the dose or stop taking the medicine before completion of the course or without consulting your doctor. Continue to use this drug until completion of the maximum amount suggested.

      Overdosage

      Avoid taking medicine more than the prescribed dosage. Since this injection will be given by doctor or nurse, therefore it is less likely that you will receive overdose of the medicine. Depending on the dosage of Divon AQ injection, symptoms vary in individuals, you may experience one or more of the following symptoms:

      • Headache
      • Drowsiness
      • Gastrointestinal bleeding

      Kidney:

      Caution is advised among people with kidney problems. Adjustments of dose of the medicine may be needed. If you have any renal problems, it is highly recommended that you consult doctor before the taking this injection. However, use of this injection is not suggested in patients with severe kidney diseases.

      Liver:

      Extreme caution is advised among people with liver problems. Dose adjustments of the medicine may be needed. If you have any hepatic problems, it is highly recommended that you consult doctor before the taking this injection. Any symptoms such as nausea, fever, dark urine etc should be reported to your doctor immediately. However, use of this injection is not suggested in patients with severe liver diseases.

      Pregnancy:

      It is not considered safe to use in pregnant women unless the potential benefits outweigh the risks involved. Despite the fact that there are limited studies in humans, animal studies have shown adverse effects on the developing baby. It is recommended that you consult your doctor before taking this medicine.

      Lactation:

      This medicine is not considered safe to use in nursing mothers unless the potential benefits outweigh the risks involved. Since limited information is available about the safety of taking this injection, consult your doctor if you are nursing mother and stay on the safe side.

      Alcohol:

      Consumption of alcohol with this injection is not recommended as it increases side effects such as risk of liver injuries, gastrointestinal bleeding, dizziness, light headedness. If you notice any unusual or abnormal reactions after taking the injection, report to your doctor immediately.

      Driving:

      The injection may decrease alertness, cause impaired judgement, affect your vision and make you feel dizzy. Do not drive, operate heavy machinery or involve in any works which may demand your attention or physical strength.

      Food:

      Avoid grape fruit juice and alcohol as it may alter serum levels.

      Drug Interactions:

      Inform your doctor or pharmacist if you are taking any other medicines which includes over-the-counter drugs, herbal tonics, supplements and medicines that you buy without a prescription. Alert your doctor if you are taking Divon AQ injection with aspirin, digoxin, ciclosporin, disulfiram, isoniazid, cholestyramine, rifampicin, phenytoin, carbamazepine, warfarin, metoclopramide, probenecid, chloramphenicol, tacrolimus.

      What is Diclofenac for:

      This medication is an NSAID, prescribed for severe pain. This medication decreases the hormones that cause inflammation and pain in the body.

      How does Diclofenac work:

      Diclofenac blocks chemicals that cause pain and swelling.

      How should Diclofenac be used:

      PO- The recommended dosage is 100-200 mgday in divided doses.Topical- Apply the gel (4 g) to the affected area, 4 times daily. It comes as a tablet to take by mouth, with food.It also comes as a gel to apply topically.

      Common side effects of Diclofenac :

      Headache. Belly pain. Upset stomach or throwing up. Many small meals, good mouth care, sucking hard, sugar-free candy, or chewing sugar-free gum may help. Hard stools (constipation). Drinking more liquids, working out, or adding fiber to your diet may help. Talk with your doctor about a stool softener or laxative. Loose stools (diarrhea). Harm to the liver may rarely happen.

      What do I do if I miss a dose

      Take a missed dose as soon as you think about it. If it is close to the time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and go back to your normal time. Do not take 2 doses at the same time or extra doses. Many times this drug is taken on an as needed basis

      What precautions should I take when taking Diclofenac :

      If you have an allergy to diclofenac or any other part of this drug. Tell your doctor if you are allergic to any drugs. Make sure to tell about the allergy and what signs you had. This includes telling about rash; hives; itching; shortness of breath; wheezing; cough; swelling of face, lips, tongue, or throat; or any other signs. If you are more than 24 weeks pregnant.

      When do I need to seek medical help

      If you think there was an overdose, call your local poison control center or ER right away. Signs of a very bad reaction to the drug. These include wheezing; chest tightness; fever; itching; bad cough; blue or gray skin color; seizures; or swelling of face, lips, tongue, or throat. Chest pain or pressure. Change in strength on 1 side is greater than the other, trouble speaking or thinking, change in balance, or blurred eyesight. Very upset stomach or throwing up. Very bad belly pain. Very bad swelling or pain of hands or feet. A big weight gain. Black, tarry, or bloody stools. Blood in the urine. Very loose stools (diarrhea). Not able to eat. Any bruising or bleeding. Yellow skin or eyes. Any rash. Side effect or health problem is not better or you are feeling worse.

      Can I take Diclofenac with other medicines:

      Sometimes drugs are not safe when you take them with certain other drugs and food. - Taking them together can cause bad side effects. - Be sure to talk to your doctor about all the drugs you take.
