Dolonex Injection 1ml is used in the treatment of ankylosing spondylitis, osteoarthritis, rheumatoid arthritis, and also relieves from pain and inflammation. However, the uses mentioned here are not exhaustive. There may be other conditions for which this medication may be used upon doctor’s discretion.
The active ingredient of Dolonex Injection 1ml is Piroxicam 20mg/ml.
Piroxicam is a non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug which reversibly withholds the Cyclooxygenase-1 and 2 enzymes, therefore, this leads to decreased production of pain and inflammation causing precursors such as prostaglandin.

The following side effects may or may not occur during the usage of this Dolonex Injection 1ml. It is generally well tolerated when taken in the prescribed dosage guidelines. More common ones are generally mild and may include:

This medication is usually administered through parenteral route in a clinic or a hospital setting under the supervision of a nurse or a physician.
If self-administered, take the injection at prescribed dose and time.
Sterilize the area before taking the shot with an antiseptic swab. Pull the needle cap out and take the liquid from the vial/ampoule through the syringe.
Spread the skin at the site of injection using your hand. Slowly dart the needle into the site where the shot needs to be given at a 30-degree angle.
Ensure the needle is appropriately placed in the blood vessel and slowly pull back the plunger. Now, inject the solution slowly into the spot and once done, quickly remove the needle. To finish, press gently at the site with an alcohol swab.
Avoid taking more than the prescribed dosage. In case of an accidental overdose, promptly seek medical advice. Depending on the dosage, symptoms may vary but you may experience one or more of the following signs or symptoms:

Caution advised among people with hepatic-related problems. If you have any, it is highly recommended that you consult your doctor before using Dolonex Injection 1ml.
This medicine is not recommended for the people who are pregnant or planning to get pregnant especially In the last trimester because this medicine is expected to cause harm to an unborn.
Inform your doctor if you are a nursing mother because this drug may pass into breast milk and may harm a breastfed infant.
Do not drink alcohol if you are taking this capsule because alcohol may increase the risk of stomach bleeding.
Caution always advised when used with other medicines. Tell your doctor about your previous and current list of medicines which you start or stop.
Category C: (Prior to 30-week gestation) Animal reproduction studies have shown an adverse effect on the fetus and there are no adequate and well-controlled studies in humans, but potential benefits may warrant use of the drug in pregnant women despite potential risks.
Category D: (Starting at 30-week gestation)There is positive evidence of human fetal risk based on adverse reaction data from investigational or marketing experience or studies in humans, but potential benefits may warrant use of the drug in pregnant women despite potential risks.
Used to relieve symptoms in Rheumatoid and Osteoarthritis and Dysmenorrhea
Piroxicam blocks chemicals that cause pain and swelling.
It comes as a capsule to take by mouth, with or without food. The recommended dose is 20 mg given orally once per day.
Feeling dizzy. Rise slowly over a few minutes when sitting or lying down. Be careful climbing. Belly pain or heartburn. Upset stomach or throwing up. Many small meals, good mouth care, sucking hard, sugar-free candy, or chewing sugar-free gum may help.
Take a missed dose as soon as you think about it. If it is close to the time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and go back to your normal time. Do not take 2 doses at the same time or extra doses. Do not change the dose or stop this drug. Talk with the doctor.
If you have an allergy to piroxicam or any other part of this drug. Tell your doctor if you are allergic to any drugs. Make sure to tell about the allergy and what signs you had. This includes telling about rash; hives; itching; shortness of breath; wheezing; cough; swelling of face, lips, tongue, or throat; or any other signs. If you have any of the following health problems: Very bad kidney disease, very bad liver disease, very weak heart, or ulcers. If you are more than 24 weeks pregnant.
If you think there was an overdose, call your local poison control center or ER right away. Signs of a very bad reaction to the drug. These include wheezing; chest tightness; fever; itching; bad cough; blue or gray skin color; seizures; or swelling of face, lips, tongue, or throat. Very bad dizziness or passing out. Chest pain or pressure. Change in strength on 1 side is greater than the other, trouble speaking or thinking, change in balance, or blurred eyesight. Very upset stomach or throwing up. Very bad belly pain. Very bad swelling or pain of hands or feet. A big weight gain. Black, tarry, or bloody stools. Blood in the urine. Any bruising or bleeding. Any rash. Side effect or health problem is not better or you are feeling worse.
Sometimes drugs are not safe when you take them with certain other drugs and food. - Taking them together can cause bad side effects. - Be sure to talk to your doctor about all the drugs you take.
Avoid Alcohol
Store in a cool, dry place away from the reach of children. - Medicines must not be used past the expiry date.
