Duphalac Fiber Solution 200ml is generally used to treat constipation. It can also be used as an adjunct to protein restriction and supportive therapy for the treatment and prevention of portal-systemic encephalopathy (PSE). This includes both the hepatic precoma and coma variations. However, the uses mentioned here are not exhaustive. There may be other conditions for which this medication may be used upon a doctor’s discretion.
The active ingredient of Duphalac Fiber Solution 200ml is Lactulose 2.5gm/5ml.
Lactulose is a synthetic, non absorbable sugar that helps in the treatment of constipation. When consumed orally, it gets broken down in the large intestine and draws water into the intestine. Thereby softening the stools and thus easing constipation.

Duphalac Fiber Solution 200ml is meant for oral administration. Shake the bottle well before administration. Dosage can be administered with the cap that comes along with the container.

This medication is a purgative and laxative, prescribed for chronic constipation. It works by drawing ammonia from the blood into the colon where it is removed from the body.
Lactulose lowers how many toxins get into the body. It softens the stool by raising its water content.
It comes as a powder to take by mouth, with or without food. Adult: The usual adult, oral dosage is 2 to 3 tablespoonfuls (30 to 45 mL, containing 20 g to 30 g of lactulose) three or four times daily.
Belly pain or heartburn. Upset stomach or throwing up. Many small meals, good mouth care, sucking hard, sugar-free candy, or chewing sugar-free gum may help. Loose stools (diarrhea).
Take a missed dose as soon as you think about it. If it is close to the time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and go back to your normal time. Do not take 2 doses at the same time or extra doses. Many times this drug is taken on an as needed basis.
If you have an allergy to lactulose or any other part of this drug. Tell your doctor if you are allergic to any drugs. Make sure to tell about the allergy and what signs you had. This includes telling about rash; hives; itching; shortness of breath; wheezing; cough; swelling of face, lips, tongue, or throat; or any other signs. If you are on a low-galactose or lactose-free diet. If you are taking other laxatives.
If you think there was an overdose, call your local poison control center or ER right away. Signs of a very bad reaction to the drug. These include wheezing; chest tightness; fever; itching; bad cough; blue or gray skin color; seizures; or swelling of face, lips, tongue, or throat. Very bad dizziness or passing out. Very loose stools (diarrhea). Very bad belly pain. Any rash. Side effect or health problem is not better or you are feeling worse.
Sometimes drugs are not safe when you take them with certain other drugs and food. - Taking them together can cause bad side effects. - Be sure to talk to your doctor about all the drugs you take.
Avoid Alcohol
Store in a cool, dry place away from the reach of children. - Medicines must not be used past the expiry date.
