Tamsulosin is an alpha-blocker which works by relaxing the muscle around the bladder exit and also the prostate gland so as to allow easy flow of urine. Dutasteride is a 5-alpha-reductase inhibitor which helps in shrinking the prostate gland by helping to decrease the level of the hormone that helps the prostate gland grow.

How to Use

How to Use

Dutas T Cap should be taken with food. The dose and duration should be followed as prescribed by your doctor. It is best to take this medicine at a fixed time. It is important that this medicine should not be taken more than the recommended dose.
Swallow the tablet whole with water, immediately after opening the tablet from the strip. Do not try to break/crush/chew the tablet.
Avoid missing or forgetting a dose. If you do, take it as soon as you remember; but if it is almost time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and take it at the next scheduled time. Do not take two doses of this medicine at the same time as it can be dangerous to your health.
Bear in mind that it takes a few weeks for the medicine to work so you need to take it regularly even if you feel it is not doing you any good. You must keep taking the medicine until your doctor advises you to stop.
This medicine should be taken only by the person for whom it has been recommended by a qualified physician. This capsule should not be taken by women or children.

Overdosage

Signs and symptoms MAY BE NOTED in case of an overdosage. If you notice any unusual or abnormal reactions in your body after taking this medicine, please contact your doctor immediately. Liver:

safe to use in case of any liver ailment/disorder? This medicine is un safe to use in patients with liver disease. There might be slight/mild side-effects on patients with liver ailments. The limited data available suggests that adjustments of doses of this medicine may be needed in these patients. Pregnancy:

Alcohol:

Driving:

This medicine interacts with diltiazem, erythromycin, itraconazole, nelfinavir, ciprofloxacin and dasatinib. Do not start it on your own. Please consult your doctor.

What is Dutasteride for:

This medication is a 5-alpha-reductase inhibitor, prescribed for an enlarged prostate treatment. It blocks the production of a natural substance that enlarges the prostate and reduces the need for surgery.

How does Dutasteride work:

Dutasteride lowers prostate growth by lowering testosterone levels. It may lower the size of the prostate and help lower the signs. It helps hair regrowth and slows hair loss.

How should Dutasteride be used:

Adult: PO- 500 mcg daily (treatment for 6 month may be required before benefit is obtained). It comes as a capsule to take by mouth, with or without food.

Common side effects of Dutasteride :

Enlarged breasts. Change in sex ability. This most often goes back to normal. A fast growing prostate cancer may rarely happen.

What do I do if I miss a dose

Take a missed dose as soon as you think about it. If it is close to the time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and go back to your normal time. Do not take 2 doses at the same time or extra doses. Do not change the dose or stop this drug. Talk with the doctor.

What precautions should I take when taking Dutasteride :

Alert your doctor immediately if you are currently taking or have recently taken, within the last 2 weeks, a medicine called a MAO inhibitor. Examples of such medicines are isocarboxazid, phenelzine, selegiline and tranylcypromine. Duloxetine should not be taken within 2 weeks of stopping a MAO inhibitor, and a MAO inhibitor should not be started within 5 days of stopping Duloxetine. Alert your doctor if you have liver or kidney disease, high blood pressure, epilepsy (seizures fits) or an eye disease called glaucoma. You must inform your doctor if you or your family have a history of any psychiatric problems, especially if you have bipolar disorder (also known as manic-depression). Inform your doctor if you drink alcohol, especially if you drink frequently or in large amounts. Alert your doctor if you are pregnant, especially if you are in the 3rd trimester of pregnancy. Inform your doctor if you are breastfeeding. Do not breastfeed while being treated with Duloxetine.

When do I need to seek medical help

If you think there was an overdose, call your local poison control center or ER right away. Signs of a very bad reaction to the drug. These include wheezing; chest tightness; fever; itching; bad cough; blue or gray skin color; seizures; or swelling of face, lips, tongue, or throat. A lump in the breast or breast soreness. Any rash. Side effect or health problem is not better or you are feeling worse.

Can I take Dutasteride with other medicines:

Sometimes drugs are not safe when you take them with certain other drugs and food. - Taking them together can cause bad side effects. - Be sure to talk to your doctor about all the drugs you take.
