      Mechanism of Action of Drugs

Clonazepam is a benzodiazepine that works by increasing the action of certain chemical messengers (GABA) in the brain. It supresses the abnormal and excessive activity of the nerve cells and calms your brain, thereby preventing or reducing the intensity of seizures. Escitalopram, a selective serotonin reuptake inhibitor antidepressant, works by increasing the amount of serotonin in the brain which helps in improving mood and also relieves symptoms of anxiety, panic attacks and obsessive- compulsive disorder. Thus, the combination is better effective in treating patients suffering from both depression and anxiety disorders.
