      Etogesic MR tablet is a combination medicine used for the treatment of pain, swelling and inflammation associated with muscle spasm. It is used in mild to moderate pain relief, treatment of rheumatoid arthritis (auto immune joint disorder in which the immune system of the body targets small joints and damages them), osteoarthritis (tender and painful joints due to wear down of protective cartilage between the ends of the bones), ankylosing spondylitis (pain and stiffness of bones of the spine), low back pain, etc. The tablet effectively relieves muscle stiffness, thereby improving muscle movement. This medicine works by preventing the release of certain chemical substances that cause pain and swelling in the body. However, the uses mentioned here are not comprehensive, there may be other conditions for which the medication may be used upon your doctor’s discretion.

      Etodolac works by blocking clyclooxygenase-2 (COX-2) enzyme in your body. When this enzyme is blocked, your body decreases the amount of inflammatory chemicals (prostaglandins) it makes thereby reducing inflammation and pain. Thiocolchicoside works on the certain receptors in the brain and spinal cord to prevent muscle contractions and relieve muscle spasms or stiffness.

      How to Use

      Take Etogesic MR tablet as instructed by your doctor. Swallow the tablet whole with water, immediately after opening it from the strip. Do not break or crush or chew the tablet.
      Avoid missing or forgetting the dose. If you do, take it as soon as you remember; but if it’s almost time for your next dose, skip it and take it according to your normal schedule. Don’t swallow two doses at the same time which is dangerous to your health.
      The tablet should be taken with food or immediately after meals. The tablet is usually taken not more than twice a day. Take the tablet at the same time every day as it helps to maintain a consistent level of medicine in the body.
      Do not change the dose or stop taking the medicine before completion of the course or without consulting your doctor. Continue to use this drug until completion of the maximum amount suggested.

      Overdosage

      Avoid taking medicine more than the prescribed dosage. If you notice any unusual or abnormal reactions after taking the tablet, promptly seek medical attention. Depending on the dosage of Etogesic MR tablet, symptoms vary in individuals, you may experience one or more of the following symptoms:

      Kidney:

      Caution is advised among people with kidney problems. Adjustments of dose of the medicine may be needed. If you have any renal problems, it is highly recommended that you consult doctor before the consuming this medicine.

      Liver:

      Caution is advised among people with liver problems. Dose adjustments of the medicine may be needed. If you have any hepatic problems, it is highly recommended that you consult doctor before the consuming this medicine. Any symptoms such as nausea, fever, dark urine etc should be reported to your doctor immediately.

      Pregnancy:

      It is not considered safe to use in pregnant women unless the potential benefits outweigh the risks involved. Despite the fact that there are limited studies in humans, animal studies have shown adverse effects on the developing baby. It is recommended that you consult your doctor before consuming this medicine.

      Lactation:

      This medicine is not considered safe to use in nursing mothers unless the potential benefits outweigh the risks involved. Since limited information is available about the safety of taking this tablet, consult your doctor if you are nursing mother and stay on the safe side.

      Alcohol:

      Consumption of alcohol with this tablet is not recommended as it increases side effects such as risk of liver injuries, gastrointestinal bleeding, dizziness. If you notice any unusual or abnormal reactions after taking the tablet, report to your doctor immediately.

      Driving:

      The tablet may decrease alertness, cause impaired judgement, affect your vision and make you feel dizzy. Do not drive, operate heavy machinery or involve in any works which may demand your attention or physical strength.

      Food:

      Avoid grape fruit juice and alcohol as it may alter serum levels.

      Drug Interactions:

      Inform your doctor or pharmacist if you are taking any other medicines which includes over-the-counter drugs, herbal tonics, supplements and medicines that you buy without a prescription. Alert your doctor if you are taking Etogesic MR tablet with aspirin, digoxin, ciclosporin, disulfiram, isoniazid, cholestyramine, rifampicin, phenytoin, carbamazepine, warfarin, metoclopramide, probenecid, chloramphenicol, tacrolimus.

      How does Etodolac work:

      Etodolac blocks chemicals that cause pain and swelling. It lowers fever by changing the bodys thermostat in the brain.

      How should Etodolac be used:

      Osteoarthritis; Rheumatoid arthritis- 600-1,000 mgday. Acute pain 200-400 mg 6-8 hourly. Max: 1 gday. This medication is available in the form of tablet, and capsules to take by mouth with food. Take tablets and capsules two or three times per day, extended-release tablet once in a day.

      Long-acting tablet shell in the stool. Belly pain or heartburn. Upset stomach or throwing up. Many small meals, good mouth care, sucking hard, sugar-free candy, or chewing sugar-free gum may help. Loose stools (diarrhea

      Take a missed dose as soon as you think about it. If it is close to the time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and go back to your normal time. Do not take 2 doses at the same time or extra doses. Do not change the dose or stop this drug. Talk with the doctor.

      If you have an allergy to etodolac or any other part of this drug. Tell your doctor if you are allergic to any drugs. Make sure to tell about the allergy and what signs you had. This includes telling about rash; hives; itching; shortness of breath; wheezing; cough; swelling of face, lips, tongue, or throat; or any other signs. Long-acting products: If you have a narrowing of the GI (gastrointestinal) tract or a bowel block. If you are more than 24 weeks pregnant.

      If you think there was an overdose, call your local poison control center or ER right away. Signs of a very bad reaction to the drug. These include wheezing; chest tightness; fever; itching; bad cough; blue or gray skin color; seizures; or swelling of face, lips, tongue, or throat. Chest pain or pressure. Change in strength on 1 side is greater than the other, trouble speaking or thinking, change in balance, or blurred eyesight. Very upset stomach or throwing up. Very bad belly pain.
