Febularc 40MG tablet is an anti-gout medicine used to prevent gout (a type of arthritis) in adults by reducing the uric acid production. Gout occurs when your body produces too much uric acid, which crystallises around your joints, causing painful and inflamed joints. The medicine should be started at low doses and gradually increased. However, the uses mentioned here are not exhaustive. There may be other conditions for which the medication may be used upon your doctor’s discretion.

How to Use

 

How to Use

Take Febularc 40MG tablet as instructed by your doctor. Swallow the tablet whole with water, immediately after opening it from the strip. Do not break or crush or chew the tablet.
Avoid missing or forgetting the dose. If you do, take it as soon as you remember; but if it’s almost time for your next dose, skip it and take it according to your normal schedule. Don’t swallow two doses at the same time which is dangerous to your health.
Febularc 40MG tablet may be taken with or without food. If significant stomach upset occurs, you could take it with food. Most recommended dose is one tablet per day. Take the tablet at the same time every day as it helps to maintain a consistent level of medicine in the body.
Do not change the dose or stop taking the medicine before completion of the course or without consulting your doctor. Continue to use this drug until completion of the maximum amount suggested even though the symptoms disappear after the medicine has begun.

Overdosage

Avoid taking medicine more than the prescribed dosage. If you notice any unusual or abnormal reactions after taking the tablet, promptly seek medical attention. Depending on the dosage of Febularc 40MG tablet, symptoms vary in individuals, you may experience one or more of the following symptoms:

  • Change in pulse rates

Liver:

Caution is advised among people with liver problems. Dose adjustments of the medicine may be needed. If you have any hepatic problems, it is highly recommended that you consult doctor before the consumption of this medicine.

Pregnancy:

Febularc 40MG tablet is not considered safe to use in pregnant women unless the potential benefits outweigh the risks involved. Despite the fact that there are limited studies in human beings, animal studies have shown effects on the developing baby. It is recommended that you consult your doctor before consuming this medicine.

Lactation:

This medicine is probably unsafe for use by nursing mothers as there is a risk of side effects on the infant. We suggest you to consult your doctor before consuming the tablet.

Alcohol:

Interaction of alcohol with this tablet is unknown. Any symptoms of abnormal reactions after taking the medicine should be reported to your doctor immediately.

Driving:

This tablet may decrease alertness, cause impaired judgement, affect your vision and make you feel dizzy, light headedness, so do not drive, operate heavy machinery or involve in any works which may demand your attention or physical strength.

What is Febuxostat for:

This medication is a xanthine oxidase (XO) inhibitor, prescribed for gout and hyperuricemia (high level of uric acid in blood). It decreases the amount of uric acid in blood.

How does Febuxostat work:

Febuxostat lowers uric acid.

How should Febuxostat be used:

PO- The recommended dose is 40 to 80mg, once daily. How it should be taken : It comes as a tablet to take by mouth with or without food.

Common side effects of Febuxostat :

Upset stomach or throwing up. Many small meals, good mouth care, sucking hard, sugar-free candy, or chewing sugar-free gum may help. - Joint pain.

What do I do if I miss a dose

Take a missed dose as soon as you think about it. If it is close to the time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and go back to your normal time. Do not take 2 doses at the same time or extra doses. Do not change the dose or stop this drug. Talk with the doctor.

What precautions should I take when taking Febuxostat :

If you have an allergy to febuxostat or any other part of this drug. - Tell your doctor if you are allergic to any drugs. Make sure to tell about the allergy and what signs you had. This includes telling about rash; hives; itching; shortness of breath; wheezing; cough; swelling of face, lips, tongue, or throat; or any other signs.

When do I need to seek medical help

If you think there was an overdose, call your local poison control center or ER right away. Signs of a very bad reaction to the drug. These include wheezing; chest tightness; fever; itching; bad cough; blue or gray skin color; seizures; or swelling of face, lips, tongue, or throat. Change in strength on 1 side is greater than the other, trouble speaking or thinking, change in balance, or blurred eyesight. Chest pain or pressure. Pain when passing urine or blood in urine. Dark urine or yellow skin or eyes. Not able to eat. Feeling very tired or weak. Any rash. Side effect or health problem is not better or you are feeling worse.
