Flavedon MR tablet is used alone or in combination with other medicines for the symptomatic treatment of stable angina pectoris and in treating chest pain caused by lack of oxygen due to poor blood flow to heart. The medicine relaxes the blood vessels and improves blood flow and oxygen in the body, thereby reducing the risk of getting chest pain. Patients who do not respond well to other anti-anginal drugs or who are intolerant to first-line anti-anginal drugs are given this medication. However, the uses mentioned are not exhaustive, there may be other conditions for which the medication may be used upon your doctor’s discretion

How to Use

How to Use

Take Flavedon MR tablet as instructed by your doctor. Do not use this medicine for durations shorter or longer than suggested by your doctor. Avoid missing or forgetting the dose. If you do, take the tablet as soon as remember, but it’s almost time for your next dose, skip the previous dose and take it according to your normal scheduled time. Continue to use this drug until completion of the maximum amount suggested.
Flavedon MR tablet should be taken with food. The tablet is usually taken twice a day. Take the tablet at the same time every day as it helps to maintain consistent level of medicine in the body. Do not chew, crush or break the tablet, should be taken as whole.

Overdosage

Avoid taking more than the recommended dosage. If you notice any unusual or abnormal reactions after taking the tablet, promptly seek medical attention. Depending on the dosage of Flavedon MR tablet, symptoms vary in individuals, you may experience one or more of the following symptoms:

  • Dizziness
  • Hypotension
  • Blurred vision

Take Flavedon MR tablet only on the advice of medical practitioner. Dosage adjustments or complete avoidance of the medication may be required in the following conditions:

Kidney:

Extreme caution is advised among people with renal problems. Close monitoring of kidney function and adjustments of dose of the medicine may be needed based on the clinical condition of the patient. If you have any renal problems, it is highly recommended that you consult doctor before the taking this tablet. However, this medicine is not recommended in patients with severe renal impairment.

Liver:

Since there is not enough reliable information about the safety of taking this tablet for hepatic patients, consult your doctor if you have liver problems and stay on the safe side.

Pregnancy:

Flavedon MR tablet might be risky to use during pregnancy. Despite the fact that there are limited studies in human beings, animal studies have shown adverse effects on the developing baby. It is recommended that you consult your doctor before consuming this tablet

Lactation:

This medicine is unsafe for use by nursing mothers as there is a risk of side effects on the infant. We suggest you to consult your doctor before consuming the tablet. Consult your doctor immediately if the baby shows signs of increased sleepiness, breathing problems or difficulty in breast feeding.

Alcohol:

Interaction of alcohol with Flavedon MR tablet is unknown. Any symptoms of abnormal reactions after taking the medicine should be reported to your doctor immediately. If you consume alcohol on regular basis, relevant dose adjustments of the medicine may be necessary depending on your clinical condition.

Driving:

Flavedon MR tablet may decrease alertness, cause impaired judgement, affect your vision and make you feel dizzy, light headedness, do not drive, operate heavy machinery or involve in any works which may demand your attention or physical strength.

Food:

Foods and beverages like grape fruit juice and alcohol should be avoided near the time you take Flavedon MR tablet.

Drug Interactions:

Alert your doctor if you are taking Flavedon MR tablet with any of the below medicines:
Metoclopramide
Inform your doctor or pharmacist if you are taking any other medicines which includes over-the-counter drugs, herbal tonics, supplements and medicines that you buy without a prescription.

What is Trimetazidine for:

This medication is an anti-ischemic (anti-anginal) metabolic agent, prescribed for angina pectoris and Menieres disease. It is also known as fatty acid oxidation inhibitor. It improves heart functions.

How does Trimetazidine work:

Trimetazidine is also used to treat Menieres disease (an inner ear disorder that affects balance and hearing) and in the symptomatic treatment of visual disorders of a circulatory origin.

How should Trimetazidine be used:

It comes as a tablet to take by mouth, with food. The recommended dose is 40-60 mgday in divided doses.

Common side effects of Trimetazidine :

The common side effects with Trimetazidine may include abdominal pain, diarrhoea, indigestion, nausea, vomiting, weakness, dizziness, headache, rash, itching and redness.

What do I do if I miss a dose

Take a missed dose as soon as you think about it. If it is close to the time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and go back to your normal time. Do not take 2 doses at the same time or extra doses. Do not change the dose or stop this drug. Talk with the doctor.
