Fluvaris 50MG tablet is used for treating patients suffering from depression and obsessive-compulsive disorder, a brain disorder characterized by uncontrollable, reoccurring thoughts (obsessions) and behaviours (compulsions) and generalized anxiety disorders (that occurs mainly due to overstress or family history). It is also prescribed for patients with major depressive disorder, panic disorder with or without agoraphobia, generalized anxiety disorder in adults, social anxiety disorder, obsessive-compulsive disorder and sleep disorders. This medicine works by decreasing the abnormal and excessive activity of the nerve cells. It can also decrease the feelings of tiredness, restlessness, difficulty concentrating, stress, fear and sleep problems that often come with anxiety disorder. However, the uses mentioned here are not comprehensive, there may be other conditions for which the medication may be used upon your doctor’s discretion.

How to Use

How to Use

Take Fluvaris 50MG tablet as instructed by your doctor. Swallow the tablet whole with water, immediately after opening it from the strip. Do not break or crush or chew the tablet.
Avoid missing or forgetting the dose. If you do, take it as soon as you remember; but if it’s almost time for your next dose, skip it and take it according to your normal schedule. Don’t swallow two doses at the same time which is dangerous to your health.
The tablet can be taken with or without food. Take the tablet once a day at the same time as it helps to maintain a consistent level of medicine in the body.
Do not change the dose or stop taking the medicine before completion of the course or without consulting your doctor. Continue to use this drug until completion of the maximum amount suggested even though the symptoms disappear after the medicine has begun.

Overdosage

Avoid taking medicine more than the prescribed dosage. If you notice any unusual or abnormal reactions after taking the tablet, promptly seek medical attention. Depending on the dosage of Fluvaris 50MG tablet, symptoms vary in individuals, you may experience one or more of the following symptoms:

Kidney:

Caution is advised among people with kidney problems. Close monitoring of kidney function and adjustments of dose of the medicine may be needed based on the clinical condition of the patient. If you have any renal problems, it is highly recommended that you consult doctor before the consuming this tablet.

Liver:

Caution is advised among people with liver problems. Dose adjustments of the tablet may be needed. If you have any hepatic problems, it is highly recommended that you consult doctor before the consuming this medicine. Any symptoms such as nausea, fever, dark urine etc should be reported to your doctor immediately.

Pregnancy:

It should be used with caution during pregnancy. Despite the fact that there are limited studies in human beings, animal studies have shown effects on the developing baby. It is recommended that you consult your doctor before consuming this medicine.

Lactation:

The medicine is not recommended for nursing mothers. Studies on human data suggests that the medication passes into the breastmilk and harm the infant. Consult your doctor immediately if the baby shows signs of increased sleepiness, breathing problems or difficulty in breast feeding.

Alcohol:

Consumption of alcohol with this tablet is not recommended as it increases side effects such as dizziness, light headedness. Any symptoms of abnormal reactions after taking the tablet should be reported to your doctor immediately.

Driving:

The tablet may decrease alertness, cause impaired judgement, affect your vision and make you feel dizzy, difficulty in concentration. Do not drive, operate heavy machinery or involve in any works which may demand your attention or physical strength.

Food:

Foods containing caffeine, tea, chocolates should be avoided as they stimulate your brain while the medicine calms the brain.

Drug Interactions:

Inform your doctor or pharmacist if you are taking any other medicines which includes over-the-counter drugs, herbal tonics, supplements and medicines that you buy without a prescription. Alert your doctor if you are taking Fluvaris 50MG tablet with anticoagulants such as NSAIDs, warfarin, lithium, tramadol, linezolid, terfenadine, cisapride, thioridazine, monoamine oxidase inhibitors, astemizole, tizanidine, furosemide, glimepriride.

What is Fluvoxamine for:

This medication is an antidepressant, prescribed for psychiatric disorders such as obsessive-compulsive disorder, social phobia and depression. It inhibits the uptake of serotonin (a neurotransmitter) by nerve cells.

How does Fluvoxamine work:

Fluvoxamine raises chemicals in the brain. With low mood (depression), sleep and eating habits may get better fast. Other signs may take up to 4 to 6 weeks to get better.

How should Fluvoxamine be used:

Adult: Oral- Depression- Initial: 50-100 mgday, up to 300 mgday if needed. Obsessive compulsive disorder- 50 mg once daily, may increase slowly. Max: 300 mgday. Social anxiety disorder- Extended release initial: 100 mg once daily. Max: 300 mgday. It comes as a tablet to take by mouth, with or without food.

Common side effects of Fluvoxamine :

Feeling lightheaded, sleepy, having blurred eyesight, or a change in thinking clearly. Avoid driving and doing other tasks or actions that call for you to be alert or have clear eyesight until you see how this drug affects you. Nervous and excitable. Headache. Upset stomach or throwing up. Many small meals, good mouth care, sucking hard, sugar-free candy, or chewing sugar-free gum may help. Dry mouth. What do I do if I miss a dose

Take a missed dose as soon as you think about it. If it is close to the time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and go back to your normal time. Do not take 2 doses at the same time or extra doses. Do not change the dose or stop this drug. Talk with the doctor.

What precautions should I take when taking Fluvoxamine :

If you have an allergy to fluvoxamine or any other part of this drug. Tell your doctor if you are allergic to any drugs. Make sure to tell about the allergy and what signs you had. This includes telling about rash; hives; itching; shortness of breath; wheezing; cough; swelling of face, lips, tongue, or throat; or any other signs. If you have taken isocarboxazid, phenelzine, or tranylcypromine in the last 14 days. Monoamine oxidase inhibitors (eg, isocarboxazid, phenelzine, and tranylcypromine) must be stopped 14 days before this drug is started. Taking both at the same time could cause risky high blood pressure. If you are breast-feeding.

If you think there was an overdose, call your local poison control center or ER right away. Signs of a very bad reaction to the drug. These include wheezing; chest tightness; fever; itching; bad cough; blue or gray skin color; seizures; or swelling of face, lips, tongue, or throat. If you are planning to harm yourself or the want to harm yourself gets worse. Change in thinking clearly and with logic. Big change in balance. Agitation, twitching, sweating, or muscle stiffness. Very nervous and excitable. A fast heartbeat. Very upset stomach or throwing up. Any bruising or bleeding. Any rash. Side effect or health problem is not better or you are feeling worse.
