Follitropin alfa helps start the growth of ovarian follicles. It helps make sperm.
It is given as a shot. Your doctor may teach you how to give the shot. Wash your hands before and after use. Throw away needles in a needlesharp disposal box and take the box back to your doctor when it is full.
Irritation where the shot is given. Ovarian cyst. Upset stomach or throwing up. Many small meals, good mouth care, sucking hard, sugar-free candy, or chewing sugar-free gum may help. Pimples (acne). Headache. Enlarged breasts. Over stimulation of the ovaries.

If you have an allergy to follitropin alfa or any other part of this drug. Tell your doctor if you are allergic to any drugs. Make sure to tell about the allergy and what signs you had. This includes telling about rash; hives; itching; shortness of breath; wheezing; cough; swelling of face, lips, tongue, or throat; or any other signs. If you have any of these health problems: Cancer where hormones make it grow, ovarian cysts, adrenal gland disease, thyroid gland disease, or vaginal bleeding. If you are pregnant or may be pregnant.
If you think there was an overdose, call your local poison control center or ER right away. Signs of a very bad reaction to the drug. These include wheezing; chest tightness; fever; itching; bad cough; blue or gray skin color; seizures; or swelling of face, lips, tongue, or throat. Trouble breathing. Very bad belly pain or soreness. Very upset stomach or throwing up. Very loose stools (diarrhea). A big weight gain. Very bad swelling. Any rash. Side effect or health problem is not better or you are feeling worse.
Sometimes drugs are not safe when you take them with certain other drugs and food. - Taking them together can cause bad side effects. - Be sure to talk to your doctor about all the drugs you take.

Store in a cool, dry place away from the reach of children. - Medicines must not be used past the expiry date.
Category C: Either studies in animals have revealed adverse effects on the foetus (teratogenic or embryocidal or other) and there are no controlled studies in women or studies in women and animals are not available. Drugs should be given only if the potential benefit justifies the potential risk to the foetus. in 2nd & 3rd trimesters. Category D: There is positive evidence of human foetal risk, but the benefits from use in pregnant women may be acceptable despite the risk (e.g., if the drug is needed in a life-threatening situation or for a serious disease for which safer drugs cannot be used or are ineffective).
