Fosavance 70Mg/5600IU tablet is a combination medicine used in the prevention and treatment of osteoporosis in postmenopausal women. This medicine is prescribed for treating osteoporosis (a condition in which bones becomes fragile and brittle due to loss of tissue, hormonal changes, or deficiency of calcium or vitamin D) in men and women who are using corticosteroids. It is also used to treat Paget’s disease of bone, a condition in which the bones are weak, deformed, thin and easily fractured. The tablet reduces the risk of breaking bones. However, the uses of the tablet mentioned here are not comprehensive, there may be other conditions for which the medication may be used upon your doctor’s discretion.

Fosavance 70Mg/5600IU tablet works by suppressing the activity of osteoclasts, cells that cause destruction of bone. It increases the bone thickness and reduces the chances of bone breakage. Cholecalciferol acts by promoting the absorption of calcium, vitamin A and phosphorous from different organs and helps in maintaining muscle strength and balance.

Take Fosavance 70Mg/5600IU tablet as instructed by your doctor. Swallow the tablet whole with water, immediately after opening it from the strip. Do not break or crush or chew the tablet.
Avoid missing or forgetting the dose. If you do, take it as soon as you remember; but if it’s almost time for your next dose, skip it and take it according to your normal schedule. Don’t swallow two doses at the same time which is dangerous to your health.

Alert your doctor if you are taking Fosavance 70Mg/5600IU tablet with aspirin, NSAIDs, calcium supplements, levothyroxine, antibiotics (tetracyclines, quinolones), deferasirox, etelcalcetide, gentamycin.

Take alendronate just after you get out of bed in the morning, before you eat or drink anything. Never take alendronate at bedtime or before you get out of bed. Swallow the tablet with a full glass of plain water. Never take it with tea, coffee, juice, milk, soda, or any other sparkling water. Swallow the tablet whole; do not spit, chew or crush them. After you take the drug, do not eat, drink, or take any other medications for at least 30 minutes. Do not lie down for at least 30 minutes. Sit or stand upright.

If you miss a dose, do not take it later in the day. Skip the missed dose and take one dose the next morning as usual. Never take a double dose to make up for a missed one, and never take more than one dose in one day.
Alert your doctor if you are pregnant. Do not take Alendronate if you are pregnant. Alendronate can cause harm to the unborn baby. Use effective birth control methods while being treated with Alendronate. Alert your doctor if you are breastfeeding. Do not breastfeed while being treated with Alendronate .Alert your doctor if you: - cannot sit or stand upright for at least 30 minutes. - have low levels of calcium in your blood. - have difficulty swallowing. - have diseases of the gullet (food pipe). Do not take Alendronate at bedtime or before getting up for the day.
If you think there was an overdose, drink a full glass of milk and contact your doctor right away. Signs of overdose may include: heartburn, bloody vomit, pain when swallowing, bloody or black stools. Contact your doctor is you are experiencing severe chest pain, very bad stomach pain, very bad jaw pain, trouble swallowing, very upset stomach or throwing up, very bad bone, joint, or muscle pain, very bad groin or thigh pain, numbness or tingling in your mouth, numbness or tingling in your hands or feet.
Alert your doctor and pharmacist if you are taking any other medicines, especially those listed here: - Medicines which contain magnesium, calcium, phosphate or iron, such as multivitamins. - Antacids. - Painkillers of the NSAIDS type for example aspirin, ibuprofen, naproxen, diclofenac. You should wait for at least 30 minutes after taking Alendronate before taking any other medicines or supplements. - Always inform your doctor or pharmacist if you are taking any other medicines, including herbal tonics, supplements and medicines that you buy without a prescription.
You should eat and drink plenty of foods and drinks that are rich in calcium and vitamin D while taking alendronate. Avoid alcohol
