Mechanism of Action of Drugs

Mechanism of Action of Drugs

Chlorhexidine gluconate has bacteriostatic and bactericidal properties which kill the bacteria or prevent the growth of bacteria by inhibiting the assembly of the bacterial cell wall.

Clobetasol propionate has anti-inflammatory properties which act by stimulating phospholipase A2 inhibitory proteins at the end then inhibits the release of arachidonic acid which helps in the synthesis of prostaglandins by this, decreases the formation, release, and activity of endogenous chemical mediators of inflammation.

Miconazole interferes with the essential component of the fungal cell membrane i.e the ergosterol, this drug inhibits the synthesis of ergosterol leads to the leakage of fungal cell wall cellular components.

Neomycin is a bacteriostatic (stops the bacterial growth) agent interferes with the bacterial protein synthesis.
