Glucored Forte tablet is a long-acting oral anti-diabetic medicine used alone or in combination with other medicines to treat type 2 diabetes mellitus. It helps in getting rid of extra glucose from the body through urine. This medicine is used with a proper healthy diet and exercise program to control high blood sugar in people with type 2 diabetes. Controlling high blood sugar level helps in preventing kidney damage, blindness, nerve problems and loss of limbs. However, the uses of the tablet mentioned here are not exhaustive. There may be other conditions for which this medication may be used upon doctor’s discretion.
The active ingredients of Glucored Forte are Glibenclamide (5Mg) and Metformin (500Mg)
Glibenclamide works by increasing the release of insulin from the pancreas and decreasing the hormones (glucagon) that raise blood glucose levels thereby reducing the fasting and post-meal sugar levels. Metformin reduces hepatic glucose production, decreases intestinal absorption of glucose and improves insulin sensitivity by increasing peripheral glucose uptake and utilization. The combination is thus better effective in lowering blood glucose levels.
