Composition

Composition

The active ingredients of Glycirite MV1 SR tablet are Glimepiride (1MG), Metformin (500Mg) and Voglibose (0.2MG)

Mechanism of Action of Drugs

Mechanism of Action of Drugs

Glimepiride works by increasing the release of insulin from the pancreas and decreasing the hormones (glucagon) that raise blood glucose levels thereby reducing the fasting and post-meal sugar levels. Metformin reduces hepatic glucose production, decreases intestinal absorption of glucose and improves insulin sensitivity by increasing peripheral glucose uptake and utilization. Voglibose is an alpha-glucosidase inhibitor that prevents the breakdown of complex sugars into simple sugars such as glucose, thereby preventing rise of glucose levels after meals. The combination is thus better effective in lowering blood glucose levels.
