Glynase MF tablet is an oral anti-diabetic medication used alone or in combination with other medicines to treat type 2 diabetes mellitus. This medicine is used with a proper healthy diet and exercise program to control high blood sugar in people with type 2 diabetes. Controlling high blood sugar level helps in preventing kidney damage, blindness, nerve problems and loss of limbs. However, the uses of the tablet mentioned here are not exhaustive. There may be other conditions for which this medication may be used upon doctor’s discretion.
The active ingredients of Glynase MF are Glipizide (5Mg) and Metformin (500Mg)
Glipizide works by increasing the release of insulin from the pancreas and decreasing the hormones (glucagon) that raise blood glucose levels thereby reducing the fasting and post-meal sugar levels. Metformin reduces hepatic glucose production, decreases intestinal absorption of glucose and improves insulin sensitivity by increasing peripheral glucose uptake and utilization. The combination is thus better effective in lowering blood glucose levels.

There is no information regarding the presence of this medicine in human milk, or the breastfed infant, or the effects on milk production. However, inform your doctor if you are a nursing mother as it is still unknown if it causes harm to the foetus or not.
Consumption of alcohol with Glynase MF tablet is not recommended as it increases side effects of the tablet. If found any symptoms of extreme drowsiness, vomiting, confusion, report to your doctor immediately.
This medicine affects blood glucose levels and decreases alertness, cause impaired judgement, affect your vision and make you feel dizzy, light headedness, confusion, so do not drive, operate heavy machinery or involve in any works which may demand your attention or physical strength.

This medication is a sulfonylurea antidiabetic agent, prescribed for type 2 diabetes (condition in which the body does not use insulin normally and therefore cannot control the amount of sugar in the blood), particularly in people whose diabetes cannot be controlled by diet alone.
It increases the amount of insulin secretion and thus regulates the sugar level in the blood.
Take as you have been told, even if you are feeling better. This drug may be used alone or with other high blood sugar (diabetes) drugs. Follow the diet and workout plan that your doctor told you about. Fast release: - Take 30 minutes before the first meal of the day. Long-acting products: - Take with the first meal of the day. Swallow whole. Do not chew, break, or crush.

If you have an allergy to glipizide or any other part of this drug. Tell your doctor if you are allergic to any drugs. Make sure to tell about the allergy and what signs you had. This includes telling about rash; hives; itching; shortness of breath; wheezing; cough; swelling of face, lips, tongue, or throat; or any other signs. If you have a sulfa (sulfonamide) allergy, talk with your doctor. Long-acting products: If you have a narrowing of the GI (gastrointestinal) tract or a bowel block. If you have any of these health problems: Acidic blood problem or type 1 diabetes. If you are breast-feeding.
If you think there was an overdose, call your local poison control center or ER right away. Signs of a very bad reaction to the drug. These include wheezing; chest tightness; fever; itching; bad cough; blue or gray skin color; seizures; or swelling of face, lips, tongue, or throat. Signs of infection. These include a fever of 100.5°F (38°C) or higher, chills, very bad sore throat, ear or sinus pain, cough, more sputum or change in color of sputum, pain with passing urine, mouth sores, wound that will not heal, or anal itching or pain. Very upset stomach or throwing up. Very low blood sugar or very high blood sugar. Very bad belly pain. Dark urine or yellow skin or eyes. Not able to eat. Any rash. Side effect or health problem is not better or you are feeling worse.
