      Hepa-Merz tablet is a combination medicine effective in treating liver diseases and indigestion. It acts as a hepato-protectant and improves the functioning of the liver. It is used for alcoholic fatty liver, acute and chronic liver diseases, high cholesterol, liver damage due to alcoholism, detoxifying the liver and maintaining its health. The presence of natural antioxidants in the tablet helps the liver respond better against invading infections by neutralizing the damage caused by harmful chemicals called free radicals. The tablet produces porcine-derived pancreatic enzymes which includes amylases, lipases and proteases. It is used to treat pancreatic enzyme deficiency due to cystic fibrosis, pancreatectomy, chronic pancreatitis. Your doctor may advise regular blood tests to monitor blood creatinine and blood/urine urea levels. However, the uses mentioned here are not exhaustive. There may be other conditions for which the medication may be used upon your doctor’s discretion.

      L-ornithine-l-aspartate is a combination of two amino acids that has antioxidant properties and works by protecting the liver from harmful chemical substances and also increases alcohol elimination from the blood and tissues. It reduces blood ammonia levels. Pancreatin works by improving the digestion of food (fats, carbohydrates, proteins) as it passes through the gut in patients who have inadequate pancreatic enzymes, which are responsible for breakdown of food.

      How to Use

      Take Hepa-Merz tablet as instructed by your doctor. Swallow the tablet whole with water, immediately after opening it from the strip. Do not break or crush or chew the tablet.
      Avoid missing or forgetting the dose. If you do, take it as soon as you remember; but if it’s almost time for your next dose, skip it and take it according to your normal schedule. Don’t swallow two doses at the same time which is dangerous to your health.
      This tablet may be taken with or without food. Take the tablet at the same time every day as it helps to maintain a consistent level of medicine in the body.
      Do not change the dose or stop taking the medicine before completion of the course or without consulting your doctor. Continue to use this drug until completion of the maximum amount suggested even though the symptoms disappear after the medicine has begun

      Avoid taking medicine more than the prescribed dosage. If you notice any unusual or abnormal reactions after taking the tablet, promptly seek medical attention.       How does Pancreatin work:

      It breaks down protein into peptides, proteoses and derived substances, and convert starch into dextrins and sugars.

      It comes as a powder, tablet, and capsule to take by mouth, with food and plenty of water.

      GI effects e.g. abdominal discomfort, nausea and vomiting. Buccal and perianal irritation, particularly in infants. Colonic strictures may occur, mainly in children with cystic fibrosis receiving high doses of pancreatin preparations. Hyperuricaemia and hyperuricosuria may occur.
