Uses and Benefits

Imdur Tablet 30mg is used in the management of angina (chest pain), heart failure, hypertension, and myocardial infarction. However, the uses mentioned here are not exhaustive. There may be other conditions for which this medication may be used upon a doctor’s discretion.

Composition

The active ingredient of Imdur Tablet 30mg is Isosorbide Mononitrate 30mg.

Mechanism of Action of Isosorbide Mononitrate:

Belonging to the nitrates group, Isosorbide Mononitrate acts by relaxing the blood vessels and improving the supply of blood and oxygen to the heart. Thus, helps in reducing pressure of functioning on the heart and chest regions. The drug thereby helps to prevent angina attacks.

Contraindications and Caution

Patients with the following conditions are suggested to seek advice from their health care professionals before taking the Indur Tablet 30mg:

• Hypersensitivity to any of the ingredients used in the Imdur Tablet 30mg such as Isosorbide Mononitrate
• Severe hypotension or anemia
• Hypovolemia
• Heart failure due to obstruction
• Raised intracranial pressure due to head trauma or cerebral hemorrhage

Side and Adverse Effects

The following side effects may or may not occur during the usage of this Imdur Tablet 30mg. It is generally well tolerated when taken in the prescribed dosage guidelines. More common ones are generally mild and may include:

• Hypotension
• Tachycardia
• Flushing
• Headache
• Dizziness
• Palpitation
• Syncope
• Confusion
• Nausea
• Vomiting abdominal pain
• Restlessness
• Weakness
• Vertigo
• Dry mouth
• Chest pain
• Back pain
• Edema
• Fatigue
• Abdominal pain
• Constipation
• Diarrhea
• Dyspepsia
• Flatulence

Rare but more serious adverse effects may include:

• Severe hypotension
• Cardiac failure

How to Use

Do not exceed the dose prescribed by your doctor.
Swallow the tablet whole immediately after opening it from the strip. Do not break/cut/chew it instead.
Avoid missing/forgetting a dose. If you do, take it as soon as you remember; but if it is almost time for your next dose, skip it and take it according to your normal schedule. Don’t consume two doses at the same time which may be dangerous to your health.
Imdur Tablet 30mg should be taken on an empty stomach at least 1 hour before food or 2 hours after food.
Take the medication at the prescribed time and dosage.

Warnings and Precautions

Take the Imdur Tablet 30mg only on the advice of a medical practitioner. Dosage adjustment or complete avoidance of the medication may be required in the following conditions:

Kidney:

Caution advised among people with renal problems. If you have any, consult your doctor before the consumption of this Imdur Tablet 30mg.

Liver:

Caution advised among people with hepatic problems. If you have any, consult your doctor before the consumption of this Imdur Tablet 30mg.

Pregnancy:

May be used during pregnancy. However, consider taking the Indur tablet 30mg only if it suggested by your doctor.

Lactation:

Safety during lactation is unknown. Therefore, if you are a breastfeeding mother, inform your doctor of the same before taking the medicines.

Drug Interactions:

With alcohol and vasodilators-Hypotensive effects may be increased.
Concurrent use with calcium channel blockers may lead to noticeable orthostatic hypotension.
When used with phosphodiesterase-5 inhibitors – Significant hypotension may occur. Therefore, always inform your doctor about the current list of medication(s) during the treatment (if any).

FDA Pregnancy Category

Category B: Animal reproduction studies have failed to demonstrate a risk to the fetus and there are no adequate and well-controlled studies in pregnant women.
