IT Mac 200MG capsule is an anti-fungal medicine used to treat infections caused by fungi and certain yeasts. It is prescribed for oropharyngeal candidiasis (fungal infection in the mouth), oesophageal candidiasis (infection of oesophagus or food pipe causing painful swallowing), blastomycosis (infection that affects your lungs and also other parts of the body such as skin, bones and joints), vaginal candidiasis (infection causing pain, itching and burning sensation with unusual discharge in the genital organs), onychomycosis (fungal infection in the finger nail and toe nail), peritonitis (fungal infection causing inflammation of thin layer of tissue that covers the inside of abdomen and most organs present in the abdomen), candidemia (a condition in which the fungus enters blood stream and from the blood to eyes, liver, brain causing invasive candidemia). This medicine acts by stopping the growth and multiplication of these organisms. However, the uses mentioned here are not comprehensive, there may be other conditions for which the medication may be used upon your doctor’s discretion.
The active ingredient of AF capsule is Itraconazole 200MG
Itraconazole changes the permeability of the cell wall of the fungal cells and prevents their growth. It binds to the phospholipids of the membrane and inhibits the fungal CYP450 activity, thereby decreasing ergosterol biosynthesis that are essential for the development of the cell membrane. This results in the death of cells due to the loss of intracellular sections.

Avoid taking antacids within one hour or two hours after you take the capsule as few antacids can make it harder for your body to absorb the medicine.

It comes as a capsule to take by mouth, on an empty stomach. Adult- PO- The recommended dose is 100 to 200 mg once daily (2 capsules).
